Sky Sports Breaking news that Kevin Bond has joined Harry Redknapp.

Bit of info on him from Wikipedia:-

Bond began his coaching career as Reserve Team coach at former club Manchester City. Spells as coach at Wrexham and Altrincham followed, before Kevin followed his father into the managerial role when he took over at faltering side Stafford Rangers in October 1997. Two of his initial signings for Stafford were former Manchester City players Ged Tarpey and Sam Harris.
In early May 1998, Kevin was named as Assistant Manager to Alan Ball at Portsmouth. Following Ball's sacking, Bond became first a scout for West Ham United, and then returned to Portsmouth as reserve team coach under manager Harry Redknapp.
However, following Redknapp's resignation and subsequent appointment at rivals Southampton, Bond chose to return to his old club and was appointed as one of the coaches working under Redknapp. When then assistant Jim Smith's contract wasn't renewed following relegation, Bond took up the role. When Redknapp left Southampton to return once more to Portsmouth, Bond also chose to again follow him, but this time he was appointed assistant manager of the Fratton Park side.
On 1 June2006 Bond left Portsmouth to join Newcastle United as assistant to Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder whom he had worked with previously at West Ham United. Bonds' contract with Newcastle United was terminated on 26 September2006.
On 12 October2006 Bond was appointed manager of A.F.C. Bournemouth, signing until the end of the current season. Unfortunately a 10 point deduction saw Bournemouth relegated to League Two for the 2008-09 season, however he was awarded a contract extension due to a incredible run of five wins in six games which nearly kept Bournemouth up.[1] Despite this, he was fired by the Cherries in September 2008 having only picked up two points in the inaugural matches of the following season.[2]
On September 1st, BBC Radio 5 Live reported that Bond and his manangement team (Rob Newman and Eddie Howe) had been sacked. At midday on September 2nd, it was announced former player Jimmy Quinn would be the new manager with former player Jason Tindall as his assistant

Just watching SSN myself and they're talking about players Harry will want to sign and Defoe seems to be top of the list.

It will be interesting to see who else will be brought in to coach and as assistant manager and Graham Roberts has been mentioned as a strong contender for a role at the club. Of course, Clive Allen's not going anywhere. What an asset to Tottenham he is.

Gary Stevens threw his hat in the ring and made a rather undignified plea for a job on SSN this morning. He's got his Uefa A badges you know!

Not pleased at all, as a Bournemouth season ticket holder, watching the way Bond coached and failed to motivate players does not fill me with any joy at all!

I heard Tim Sherwood would be given a coaching role too....

That might stop him slagging us off ;-)

No chance with Adams - he would've come already if that was the case, plus i doubt Levy would allow it, certain fans would have an uproar if he joined us.

I have no idea on whether Sherwood would be any good or not, but i think it's always good to have an ex-spurs player about (as long as it's not Jamie R).

Not sure why we need this guy, he doesn't exactly have glowing references.

Anybody know anything more than the Wiki blurb?

I had the opinion that Sherwood has been anything but complementry over the last few years and isn't very well thought of by a large proportion of Spurs fans.

I vaguely remember him on some SS post match interviews, and i can't say he stood out as being a particular dick or anything, but perhaps if there are fans who aren't happy with him we should look elsewhere.

I guess Harry owes him a big one after he carried the can when Panorama stitched them up over the dodgy transfer dealings at Portsmouth. But surprised Levy sanctioned the move. Bond does not fill me with confidence, but I suppose Harry knows him as someone he can work with.

I would like to have seen Clive given the number two role and groomed as Redknapp’s successor.

Dear God, anyone but Roberts. The man is a prick. Anyway, how many coaches does Harry need?

If Harry can work with him, then great.

An assistant manager/coach does not need to be a fancy name or liked by the fans.

Kevin Bond harldy inspires me with confidence as Harry's ear when the chips are down. Was hoping for a number 2 with a bit ok knowledge of the euro game. I cant help but think that HR and the rest that are coming in are a huge panic measure. Come a years time or so and we are a mid-table team again HR time will be called. Sacking Jol and now Ramos 10 games in is a huge blunder on both parts.

There are only 3 ex Spurs players I dislike. Crooks, Sherwood and Stevens for various reasons, all to do with their media lives 'post Spurs'. Crooks is a posh cock and is known to be quite unapproachable. Sherwood took great pleasure in making Robbi look like a twat on Setanta and Stevens said he'd rather Arsenal win the CL than Spurs finishing 4th that season.

I really wouldn't be happy with any of those at Spurs. Ginola or Teddy please.

it sounds like we may have a few x-spurs amongst our coaches what with roberts, sherwood and stevens all being linked. I would love to see roberts given the defensive coaching role.

I think we should give them an oppurtunity and see what they can do.

Redknapp nor Bond have ever had the pleasure of working with such a talented squad of players as they have at spurs, and so we may see our players respond more to the tactics and guidance they are given as well as being able to pull them off to a better standard then pompey/southampton players.

The only thing that worries me is what the likes of our big name players Modric, Pav, GDS will think of taking orders from such people - they will never have heard of them and will perhaps regard them as nothings in football, im sure Modric / GDS would prefer to be getting instructions from a Bilic / Ferguson / Wenger even Ramos as opposed to Kevin Bond... - infact, this worries me a lot.

Do you not think that Modric will love being played off the front man? And do you not think Modric is just as likely to enjoy playing for Harry as his friend Kranjkaer has? I think they will be fine. The majority of our players will know Harry well, and they will love working with him. That will only benefit the foreign plyers as it will rub off on them. The mood inside the Club will be much higher. And lets not forget the likes of Di Canio and Berkavic (sp) who enjoyed playing under Redknapp. I expect the likes of Giovani and Modric to enjoy playing for Harry, as they'll be given the freedom to express themselves. And they both enjoy the man management type (Modric with Bilic rather than a Ramos for example.)
