Redknapp jets out to watch French striker

Published 23:00 23/05/11 By Alan Nixon - EXCLUSIVE

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is closing in on French hitman Kevin Gameiro - after making a flying visit to personally run the rule over the £12million star.
Redknapp and his assistant Kevin Bond watched the Lorient striker in action against Nice on Saturday as Spurs home in on their top targets to improve their attack for next season.
Gameiro fired a blank in front of Redknapp and Bond, but the prolific forward may have done enough to persuade Tottenham to buy.
Redknapp has scoured Europe for a proven finisher and will join the bidding for Gameiro once Lorient accept he is on his way - and put a sensible price on his head.

This guy has got great potential, would prefer him to Osvaldo, but that is just my opinion. Article is written by Alen Nixon, didn't someone on this board used to send PM's to him on a Blackburn meaasge board about SPurs related stuff, perhaps whoever that was can do some digging.

He's been linked with valencia and expressed a desire to go there after falling out with his coach. If we can outbid them then you never know.

Suppose he'd do a job as a poor man's Rossi (or Defoe with movement, intelligence and pace).

Would rather the genuine article (Rossi) though.

Defoe with movement, intelligence and pace sounds one hell of a player!

He would be great player to put next to a Damaio or Osvaldo. Would be okay with that strikeforce and sending out Defoe and Crouch, keep Pav for the bench and Europa league games if he's up for it.

I think you've hit the nail on the head ther that's exactly what he is, however who's to say he can't develop to as good as Rossi as we have missed the boat with him.

Would rather sign Gervinho. Gameiro is a good striker, but I think Gervinho is better for us.

Gerviniho will go to the ACN halfway through the season though souffle this guy is of a similar ilk he should be our first preference surely

I think your badly missing SK's point!!

Similar ilk perhaps but there is one thing he will never measure up to Gerviniho in terms of

I do get frustrated with the little boxes you put players in mate. No offence, just think that we see those moulds broken every season.

Having had a good look at United this season, given that I initially thought that they're squad was not title material, I am resigned to the fact that by far the most important thing to have in a squad of players is attitude. Which encompasses professionalism, determination, ambition, intelligence and leadership. We don't have enough of that at the moment which is why I am very much behind the Parker signing and I would also be looking for that in a striker. How great would it be to have someone like Hernandez? Keane is probably the closest we have but unfortunately he looks over the hill now.

Agree with the sentiment but I am not convinced that Parker is the man we need. Looked great by comparison to some poor team mates. Lets not forget that with him on board they lost more games this season than we did in the last two. He ain't a one man team but he is not as good as some think.
