how sad that our fans have only been in the city centre for 3 hours and it has already kicked off into a major showdown and riot police have had to contain our supporters.

what on earth do these people get out of spending all that money to get out there, only to be sent straight back or detained until after the game  it baffles me.

I know a few member here have gone out to the match, i hope they are not involved and are safe.

well, you work for the club, and I'm stuck at work a few hundred miles away...

but...

Remember when we saw those images on TV of riot police battering our fans in Seville, I seem to remember there being a lot of "omg our fans are such ****s" posts on here, when it turns out the Seville Police were just getting some kicks out of beating up our disabled supporters

What's happened...? maybe we should avoid instantly laying into our fans when this 'incident' has (presumably) happened within the last few minutes, and none of us are on the ground...

If it turns out our fans are being ****s, then sure, lay into them, but for all we know it could be anything

Unfortunately this will always happen in Europe. Those fans who are known trouble makers are often going to be kept out of White Hart Lane, but abroad its always going to be easier to get into games. They're a disgrace, whether its Spurs fan or NEC ones. Feyenoord were kicked out 2 seasons ago for crowd trouble in a UEFA Cup game, so hopefully this one doesn't spill into the Stadium.

It wont be correct to put all the details on here, but from our own ' men on the ground' our fans decided to confront the local pub and taunt from outside, i suppose if it was the other way round, we would react the same, but it was unexpected, the police had to be called in, so they were not lying in wait for trouble - our own staff out there were unable to contain the situation and had to leave the police to their own devices.

I shall be having 15minute updates, so will see what happens, it is nothing like the seville encounter and cant be compared in anyway.

You see my point tho, in the heat of the moment it's easy to make snap judgements and over-react without knowing all the facts... again, I have no connection to this, but is it not possible that our fans, say, started bantering with the pub, it escalated slightly, the police were called in just to make sure things didn't kick off, and nothing did  (again, I understand that this may not be the case, and they might be being ****s)

Your first post made it sound like our fans had started throwing petrol bombs and yelling racial slurs at the local orphanage... shall we just chillax a bit and wait for a few more facts to arrive

i have no need to make a snap judgment because i am fully aware of the facts - the police were not called in to make sure it didnt kick off, it had already kicked off and our own were not able to contain it, so then the police were called in.

my first post said nothing of the sort, you maybe reading things that are not there.

it has settled down in the main, the majority are inside the ground now, an element in the main centre do not have tickets, they will have to look after themselves.
