It's not often I get excited by a defence, but that's niiiiiiice! Looks a lot weaker if you have to replace any of them with our current subs though....

This is what we put out first game of last season.Feeling a bit more confident about the start to the upcoming season.

We can currently field both:

Hutton, Woodgate, King, Bale and
Chimbonda, Kaboul, Dawson, Gilberto

Both would still be better. Especially as Stalteri was at left back. He let the cross in too easily which led to the goal aswell. And to think that Chimbonda, Kaboul, Stalteri and Gardner will all be sold aswell.

Jol was crazy to think that he could get top 6 out of that defense.

The board were worse to think that he should have achieved 4th place with what he was given.

I agree that it's vital to have these 2 back. Bale to add good balance and Ledders for obvious reasons. I actually think that we may NOT need a new cb as cover like what most people think. Reason being is that when Kaboul and Dawson played together, yes they were generally bad. But if King does get injured, is a mixture of Woodgate and Kaboul so bad? Or if Woody gets injured is King and Dawson so bad?? Certainly they wasn't when helping us to 5th.

..team we put out against sunderland last season looks pretty awful..funny how blind and optimistic i fealt back then! Still it was a team good enough not to lose!!:bang:
