In his position, Walker is one of Spurs' very few players who is at around top 4 quality yet he gets so much stick while favourites like Holtby and Lamela are given a free ride despite not producing one consistently good all round performance for the club yet. Odd

Agree - he's arguably the best right-back England have available to them.
Any English club wanting him would have to stump up the best part of £20 million to get him, though a foreign team would no doubt get him for less.

Surely he played 45 mins in our pre season Tour. Didn't he?!

The lad was limping most of the time look in great discomfort. Hip joint problems are notoriously hard to sort.

Glenn Johnson as a 24 year old went for 17.5 million 5 years ago. He transferred from Portsmouth when they were really starting to suffer financially.

Kyle Walker is a better player, also English, also 24, probably first choice Itl RB when fit and plays for a club not needing to sell him who are reasonably successful (depends on outlook...).

Plus we have Daniel Levy.

25Million minimum.

£20million- you must be joking! Filipe Luis just went for that and is 29. Levy would want double that.

Sothis story is utter bullshit... the whole thing reeks of a journalist who was struggling to fill some space left in a paper. Walker will no way be off to Barca. With the money they have there's countless defenders they could take. Why would they identify Walker who has under performed for the last two season, is currently injured and isn't even first choice for the national team.

Bullshit I say again... BULLSHIT!

He was to be first choice before his injuries for England.

I wasn't particularly arguing/discussing the merits of the Barca link. More his ability and value in the context of English players and the Premiership.

He is not our best player in a technical sense by any stretch of the imagination, but good god is Walker undervalued by some on this board.

I my fears are confirmed regarding the severity of Kyles pelvic problem, he will me a catastrophic loss for us.

I just hope I'm overreacting.

Sounds like he's fooked

Short term yes..............

My big worry is he was four months out over the summer and he still looked in so much discomfort when running in that friendly.....

Kaboul had a not dissimilar problem some time back...and he still looks lame IMHO

Not sure how I feel about this Barca link, it must be bollocks surely? I like Kyle a lot but I wouldn't say he's performed consistently enough to warrant that level of interest, would anyone else?

If it is true then I'd argue that bringing Yedlin in would be a great replacement because he appears to be a very similar player but the downside is that he's not meant to be here til January and we obviously can't guarantee he will be a success.

Be nice if Barca really did want him, maybe we could get a rb who could actually defend, sadly it seems very unlikely, they have made a few mistakes in their dealings but normally they would be looking for players with some footballing brain

Seriously? some interesting views on Walker on here. The old "better than johnson" comments (i'm still not convinced he is). Worth more than £20m....... not in my book. Englands best right back? really, does that mean a lot?

I am not knocking the player, he's good but in my opinion he isn't great, certainly isn't a worldy player and i do not think any club above us would ever look at him as an option. He's quick, but thats by far his best quality. Decision making and positioning are not strong features and to be honest top defenders need these more than pace.

Home fans tend to see things throuh rose tinted specs but we need some realism here. He's good, thats it.

As for going to the likes of Barca, maybe he could as they do not look for fullbacks that defend but he would be a massive step down from Alves in that role. Could we cope without him? Probably with Naughton, Fredricks and maybe the likes of Yedlin. Realistically a fee around £12-15 would be more than reasonable IMO.
