And if you fail to pay your players the type of wages they see inferior players receiving at lesser clubs, do you think you risk a similar outcome, Trix?

Of course, it's definitely a balancing act, and there is only so far "the project and Poch" will go to offset wages they could earn elsewhere.

All arguemebts selected as pro keeping him. How about some to offset them.

Trippier. Younger hungrier and also an england RB wants more games.
Tripping arguably is just as good as KW but has potential to improve
KW has hit that magic number where his value/age has peaked
The potential buyers are known to pay OTT fees
We could buy a replacement cheaper
We have a stadium to pay for
Tripper 4 months younger than walker, that's a huge 16 weeks. Hungrier than walker but happy to sit on the bench. As good as walker but plays significantly less games than walker. Wonder who Poch thinks is better.

For sure mate, that makes perfect sense. I guess it's essential that Levy gets that "balancing act" right. Let's hope he does, eh! Thanks for the reply, Trix!

Who are these 'inferior players at lesser clubs' that are receiving more than our players ?
Off the top of my head, Allatsea, I'd say Wilf Saha, for example. Isn't it alleged that he's signed a contract worth in the region of £120 k a week to stay at relegation-fodder Palace? Now whether you think he's "inferior" to the attacking mids we already have, is a judgement call - personally I don't think he's at the same level as Dele, Eriksen, or even Son - but I'd certainly contest that Palace are some kind of financial powerhouse, or in any way a bigger club than us. Players speak to each other; they're aware of what their peers earn. I don't think it's controversial to suggest that if one of our players were to find out that players at a club that wasn't challenging for the title or Champions League places - and helping to generate its associated revenues - was earning more in wages, they'd be asking why. Do you not accept that situation has the potential to be disruptive?

I think you need more than alleged player at Crystal Palace and if a player said to Poch "look at what they are paying Zaha at Palace, I want more!" I would suggest Poch ask them if that's where they would like to be sold. I agree that lesser players are getting paid more at Liverpool and Arsenal, but to say they are both "lesser clubs" is a bit over the top.

We could afford to pay 1 player £250K/week if we paid everyone else £40k/week....

Ask any one of our players if they would trade spots with Zaha - and I guarantee none would take the money to go play at Crystal Palace...

I've never suggested that Liverpool or Arsenal were "lesser clubs", Donki, I will simply making a general observation, mate. It was Allatsea that asked me to provide a specific example, and I offered Saha's contract renewal at Palace. I think it's generally accepted that, for a Champions League Club, we don't pay Champions League wages, and I was merely suggesting that I don't know how long that situation can subsist before it becomes a problem, and our players ask, "Why is Player X on more money than me, when he's playing for a dog-shit club like say West Ham?". As Trix said, "it's a balancing act", and I agree with him. I certainly don't think we can be blasé about it, and say "fuck it you're on a long contract, accept the situation or fuck off!". For me, it's a situation that Levy needs to manage carefully, or, as many pundits have suggested, he risks disenfranchising the best group of players and coach we'd have in a generation.

I think we still have some room to improve for starting 11 but there is a finite budget we can work on. TBH, for Walker to leave, he should at least get double before even considering it. That is a good 160kpw... I would go if so much silly money is thrown at me.

So I won't blame him. He had been a good rich servant.

Why does everyone just assume it's only about money?

Reasonable people may disagree, but IMHO Trippier is not as good as Walker and I doubt he will ever be better than Walker is now. That said, Walker isn't likely to get much better so Trippier may pass Walker during the latter' decline.
