City's home grown players last year were Clichy, Delph, Sterling, Stones. For a 25 man squad, 17 can be non-homegrown, 8 can be home grown. Last year , they named only 20 seniors, which meant they could get away with 4 home grown.
They have released 4 seniors but have added 2 already this season. They need 2 RBs, 1 CBs, 1 LB, 1 forward, 3rd goal keeper.

If Alves, Mendy & Bonnuci signs, that would take their senior list to 21 (assuming last season players like Hart are loaned/sold out), this would mean that they would require 2 more home grown players to fill their 1RB, 1 forward & 3rd keeper.

They have to go out & find a 3rd English GK or English Forward. Otherwise, they would be forced to buy Walker. Ofcourse other alternative is they may bid for Bellerin, who is also homegrown - in which case, I dont have any problem as Walker would come back to us.

What ever way, you look at this, they are now in situation to suck it up & pay for Walker. And Levy knows this...

60M ... we can use some of the proceeds for Iheanacho. Give them a buy back clause x2 of transfer price.:D
As we know , swap type deals are very rare but it doesn't seem an outrageous idea that we would consider a move for Iheanacho as part of this one. Leicester seem to be on the brink of signing him for £25 million though.

This has been heavily rumoured in the press for some time now, but just doesn't appear to be moving. Makes me think nothing is going to happen.

City have been incredibly quiet after a quick start to the window. Clear they need 3-4 in after releases etc... Surprised me to be honest. Guess even they have some semblence of value.

Their silly over priced signings have caught have with them. Everyone is now asking the earth for any player they show interest in.

Apparently L'Equipe are saying PSG have an agreement with Dani Alves. They may become more desperate for Walker if that is the case.

Yeah, I think they've been trying to play it cool with us, Levy won't let him go cheap I wouldn't have thought. The more RB's that are moving, they're running out of options. I think they'll get Kyle for around £45mill plus add ons, in the end. If Levy manages to blag another £10-15mill on that price, the he truly is a magician. Now if only he'd pull the trigger on the signings we need.

I just think we've agreed everything but don't want to complete it until we've finalised our signings. Announcing a massive sale before completing our purchases will push their price up

As others have mentioned, if Kyles going, then we should be all over Iheanacho, I cant understand why were not, he ticks every box. 40 million plus Iheanacho, lets do this Baldy

If that's the case, the rule really needs to be changed to "must have 8 home-grown players" or at least to make it a proportionately the same for smaller squads (so City would have needed 6 home-grown players last season).

I really feel this issue is hampering our plans. The longer it drags on, do we risk missing out on potential replacements.
Also, what impact does it have on other signings we make, for example if Pereira is No1 target and priced at £20m say, then if Walker goes for £50m, there's an extra £30m to be spent on other signings, so potentially £17m Meyer for AM we could upgrade to £30m Barkley (hypothetical figures). Is there a reluctance to commit to moves until we know what we're playing with?
The club should set a deadline, make an offer for Walker that meets our valuation by end of next week, or he's not for sale, and we shape our squad accordingly.
Longer it drags, more risk all our potential targets are snapped up by others.

Well you could argue that if we feel we can't replace him properly we won't sell him.

Looks like Dani Alves to PSG is confirmed.

Somewhere, Daniel Levy has just crossed out £50m and wrote down £60m ...

Really would not sell Walker now, actually never saw the need to let him go.
Let Trippier and Walker battle it out, can only be good for us.
Why help out a rival, Pep let his RB's go, now he can scrape around.

i know it's a fucking bastard of a thought, but would Levy string them along all summer and scuttle it at the last minute? Leaving City with no way of getting a decent RB for next season...
