Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are understood to still be interested in Anzhi Makhachkala striker Lacina Traore.

French outfit Monaco are leading the race for the Ivorian’s signature having discussed the option of taking the frontman to Ligue 1 with his current club.

However, Monaco can expect attempts from Liverpool and Tottenham to bring Traore to the Premier League this January as both clubs look to add attacking reinforcements.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is chasing another forward to support Luis Suarez following an injury to Daniel Sturridge and has held a long-standing interest in Traore.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have been poor in front of goal so far this term having netted just 22 goals in 19 league games with £26 million signing Roberto Soldado yet to find his feet in English football.

There are still doubts over the long-term form of Emmanuel Adebayor and Spurs boss Tim Sherwood may have to replace Jermain Defoe this winter with the England frontman continually linked to MLS outfit FC Toronto.

Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis is reportedly a target for the north London side and SportsDirect News understands Traore is another name to have been mentioned at White Hart Lane.

The Ivorian stiker has scored 13 goals in 29 games for Anzhi but looks set to leave Russia after the club’s billionaire owner Suleiman Kerimov took the decision to recoup some of the millions he forked out by selling the star players.

I'm a big fan of his, and I've been looking for a quality link for a while. Sports direct news, is though, sadly, the very worst site when it comes to transfers. I don't know if I can think of a less reliable site. They always reveal their sources as "inside sources at Sports Direct News, etc, etc." They make up stories to get traffic to their site, where they then push for betting via William Hill.

At 6'8 he is suprisingly mobile and skillful. Would definitely add to our set piece threat.

"Sports direct news" specialise in fiction. You'd get more truth out of Adiepf and Aqkayid.

The only guy I saw push Sandro and survive. But I didn't see enough to know if he's any good.

Crouchy was tall enough but he never really added much of an aerial threat, personally whilst there's no doubt we should be a far greater threat at corners I would much rather get a player that is far more skilful, intelligent and inventive and can carve chances in more open aspects of our play. I think as you say he is surprisingly mobile and skillful given his height, but there are shorter striker options that can offer more

He hasn't got his EU passport yet so doubt he would get a work permit here he doesn't play for the Ivory Coast much, but then I doubt anyone 'writing' for sportsdirectnews.com would know players even need one.

Can close this one? Has joined Monaco, so doubt we'd take him on loan

I'd wa:)nt him if the substitution rules were changed to something like in basketball. Then we can sub him in at all dead ball situations.

Andy Carroll, Carlton Cole and Lacina Traore. Hm, with all these cultured forwards you are really treating the Upton Park crowd.

Be fine on loan, but never seen anything to convince me he's worth £15m+. Thing his extraordinary size gains him a few more headlines than he deserves. No better than the likes of Andy Carroll.

The thing is, Andy Carroll has all the skills to be a top striker. Yes, I'm serious.

West Ham just waste good forwards.
