Anybody help me out here, I'm not being a complete dunce am I?

Lamela did play the end of the match at Central Midfield?

Such as when he tracked and tried to throw himself in front of Aly Cissokhos shot?

Are you actually kidding me?

He sprinted from the left wing and got across to put a decent effort of a block in.

If he did play centre midfie3ld it was for what, five minutes?

People were using that as a reason for him not playing well.

They have actually used him quite a bit from the left in the past couple of games. Furthermore I wouldn't look to much at his appearances for the national team. He has recently gotten some stick for his appearances because both journalists AND the national team coach (Morten Olsen) believes he has performed on too-low of a level.

So when playing central he was good etc.

But then got stick when playing out of position on the left?

Hmmm.....

Came Central after the sending off and we replaced Capue for him with I think Townsend or Kane coming on in place of Capoue

And if you want to ignore the fact that he had a direct influence in our first goal then that's up to you? What will you say when he scores?

A players performance should not be judged simply on goals/assists.

Fucking hell, mate. You admit we're shite at corners and nothing ever comes from them but when one of our players comes off the bench, takes a great corner which leads to us equalising you come on here and say how ineffective he was.

If Eriksen had managed an assist first half would that have turned his poor performance miraculously into a good one?

Take your Lamela tinted glasses off.

Nope, you are right Tibsy, he was moved into CM when Capoue went off. It was so obvious aswell.

I think Main Man has lost the plot, he obviously didnt watch the game so we can take his opinion and file it under a word that starts in SH and ends in IT.

I think you will find it was for approximately 26 mins, Capoue went off in the 71st minute and the game finished in the 97th......give it up mate and admit you didn't watch the game.

Not that this proves he played central for at least 20 minutes. But just to prove you didnt watch the game- 9.13 to 9.28.

Central outside the ares. Runs back to the left hand side of our box to cover the runner. Sprints centrally again to try and block a shot.

Also, as an aside, 2 fingers up to the blind people who say he doesnt have the fight or put defensive effort in.

No one is saying Lamela was brilliant though are they, you mug.

What people are arguing about is your point blank refusal to accept anything good that Lamela does.

If Eriksen got an assist I would at least recognise it, I wouldn't say he had a great game, just like I'm not saying Lamela was great but at least recognise the good he does.

No need to get personal.

I have accepted everything good Lamela has done, but I have weighed that against the negatives.

That is something you and many others are not willing to do/accept..

Don't tell me what my thought process is or what I am and am not willing to accept.

It's clear that if anyone is lacking some objectivity in here it's you.

Why don't you try removing those gooner shade glasses you're wearing.

I've watched the game twice, as I do every game.

He was situated out left more than any of our other players in that time period.

Yes he kept drifting inside, but what's new there?

What on earth have Arsenal got to do with this?

I have listed the positives from Lamela's performance on Sunday:
  • He took a corner which successfully beat the first man an result in a goal
  • He played a key part in Benteke's sending off
  • His work rate (certainly towards the end of the game) was good, although no greater than the level I expect from any of our players - especially one of the freshest players on the pitch!
Negatives:
  • Apart from the above he contributed nothing else of note. Absolutely nothing
  • In terms of chances created, he actually created less chances than the guy whom he replaced.
Objective enough?

How was he out of position? I read this earlier, somebody saying he played central midfield or some nonsense? He was on the left of midfield.

If that wasn't what was intended then surely Dembele would have been the better option?

Other than take a corner and his handbags with Benteke, what else did he do in 45 minutes?

Dude, spam and wtf all you like. I can't be bothered to engage with you anymore. It's a waste of time and effort.

You obviously don't like Lamela, that's fine, everyone has their favourites.

YiddoInPoland

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

Was it you who said he should have hit shot when he did the Rabona with his right? (can't be bothered to look back to be honest) if it was then that is hardly balancing out the good from the bad.

He does have negatives to his game, as do most players, especially young ones, i just don't really get why you purposely focus more rigorously on the negatives and fail to see that he does tend to have some end product, and if we can realise that more consistently then we will have a very effective player.

Regardless of consistency, he is our most effective "assister" and out of the 13 goals we have scored he has assisted 4 of them, 30% of our goals have come directly from this guy, and i am sure he influenced others as well if we went back and looked through them, and it is no suprise that most games he has not been very good in you could pick a bunch of players who were at the same level so collectively as a unit there where not the greatest.

He has a long way to go, but if potential is even remotely realised we at a minimum have a very good player on our hands, who, like Chadli get a lot of shit for no reason most of the time.

genuine question - how many chances did Eriksen make?

Off the top of my head I can think of two.

The one where he nutmegged their full back and pulled it back for someone (Mason perhaps).

Also his shot which may have been going in, that led to Soldado's headed miss.
