"He had some treatment from the Roma physios and our guys – I think he's been pretty much everywhere," Sherwood said. "It's a similar injury to the back problem that Chiriches had and we're pleased to have Chiriches fit so our guys have done a good job with him. Lamela's probably not going to play [again] this season. He's been out a very long time. He's going to need a pre-season before he can play.

"He's basically been out of the picture because of his injury and hopefully he's using this time to learn English. That will stand him in good stead for when he's eventually fit."

Sherwood was asked how Lamela's English was coming on.

"Qué?" he replied."

Found a bit more in the Guardian.

Sherwood sounds pretty reasonable there.

I'm seriously concerned about Lamela though. I have a strong suspicion he's heading back to Italy.

As for supporting players going to the world cup

"We're concerned [more] immediately because he's not fit and, probably, it's very doubtful that he'd be fit for next weekend as well. But he's still got a lot of time before the World Cup and there'll be a few friendlies for England as well. Kyle is one of the best right-backs and I'm sure he'll be on that plane to Brazil even if he doesn't make an appearance for Tottenham by the end of the season."

I would agree but the only thing stopping me is the amount of money paid for him. He's a huge prospect but I doubt Levy will get that money back, and he will want to get that money back. It's not just a case of negative equity, he simply looks like an idiot otherwise.

Doubt either Lamela or Sherwood will be at the club next season
I can't see any team paying anywhere near what we paid, amd levy won't take a massive loss. Looks certain we will have a new manager next season so it would be sensible to let the new guy cast his eye over lamela first. Im almost certain he will be here next year. If he still doesn't work out then I imagine we will cut our losses in a years time before he runs down his contract. I still have hope for the lad that he will come good.

But the one thing Levy loves is a deal. I wouldn't be surprised if he had something up his sleeve.

Yeah, I suppose. Depends if he can bring in a player as part of a deal and work it out that way.

Nevertheless, I'd be upset to see him go so early on since I think he's a quality young lad that needs regular playing time and development under a good manager.

To those that think lamela will be sold, I have two words: Gomes & Bentley. Levy prefers to let his disappointments rot than take a loss.

Only way I can see Lamela going next season is on loan, no way Levy will take a big hit on the fee & who's gonna cough up £30m on the back of this season??
Sherwood on the other hand 100% Spanish archer

Well if you consider that a fair chunk of the fee will be made up of add - ons for achievements, appearances etc. Of which none have been met by club or player then I don't think it will be too hard to get our money back.

1. It looks improbable that Erik will be fit for the World Cup, a shame for him but it seems he still has a chance

2. Can the people saying "I reckon we'll sell Erik", "I don't think Erik will be here next season" shut the fuck up. Seriously- it's so fucking annoying and it's all bullshit. We had this in January and we still have it.

Who in their right mind can honestly think we will sell Lamela? There are so many reasons that it won't happen and I can't be bothered to list them because it should be so obvious to everyone.

Fucking hell, it gets on my nerves.

I honestly didn't realise Sherwood had amassed this many supporters in the Lamela thread. Did you all migrate from 'Sherwood out'?
Who is a Sherwood supporter?

I'm yet to see a single fan who wants him as our long term manager

You however are forming strong opinions on things it seems you actually know nothing about

What do you know about Lamela and what's going on behind the scenes? Or Lamela and Sherwood's relationship?
He wasn't playing under AVB either and there were reports of him being unhappy and wanting to return to Italy long before Sherwood took over - so why are you stating with such authority that you know Sherwood is the cause of the Lamela situation (if there even is one)

Furthermore you seem to have very strong opinions about this interview - though the video of it shows nothing of note, you then discredit this video because it's edited and demand to see the full video yet it seems your opinions are all formed without having seen the full unedited version either

I really don't see what's wrong with anything he said

Ok I've only seen the edited video and read quotes - but it seemed to me like Sherwood was being asked some pretty difficult questions and spent his time mostly answering with responses to deflect and avoid being lead into giving the type of comments the press were fishing for to make their stories

If he is having major back problems at his tender age (which I doubt very much)

Does'nt bode well for the rest of his career does it?
