Yeah but he ruined thousands if not hundreds of thousands lives by stealing their money.

Armstrong was paid by sponsors. True one of the main ones was the us postal service and came out of public funds but you can argue they got what they paid for at the time.

Does anyone have any guesses if drugs improve your performance by 1% or 15%?

He claims he was clean on his comeback but point 5 in the link below suggests he wasn't.

Lance said no one was put under pressure to take drugs, but one of the riders (can't remember who) said that the management would put indirect pressure on them to improve. If someone is told to improve their performance or they are off the team - there is a lot of pressure to take drugs.

The 2nd interview was pretty benign. Clearly stage managed and you presume Lance and his lawyers had seen the questions in advance. There was no spontaniety from Oprah. The link above says that he can't be done for perjury since the end of 2012. I'm still not sure what he has to gain from admitting this. Last week - there was still doubt. Is he trying to clean his name or is he trying to sell autobiographies and media interviews? {some one made a lot of money from adverts during Oprah as there were two and a half minutes of adverts for every 4 minutes of talk}.

It seems like it was quite easy to cheat in cycling. Do you think that was true of other sports to the same extent? Or was it easier in cyling because of the gaps between races and more of an advanatge because of the intensive exertions?

Anyone else think he should go to prison for fraud? Considering the amount of money he gained through being a cheat and the amount of money he made through suing people?

I think they should threaten him with it unless he exposes everything. The UCI, his trainers, doctors the whole bloody shebang. He's going to lose eveything anyway surely so that would be punsihment enough let alone he's probably the least popular man on earth right now. Crazy crazy turnaround. Hero to complete and utter zero.

His poor kids. bloody hell how are they ever going to get away from this?

He's lying his arse off all the way through that interview. The bloke is a pathological lier.

What about all the careers he ruined? What about all people he sued, and how that affected them?

I think he should go to prison, he isn't even truly remorseful.

Oh I wouldn't disagree, I just think they need to blow the whole thing wide open. This is bigger than him, cycling always been a such a mess.

Yes and that's the key. Cycling was a mess and not just Lance Armstrong. A number of people who provided evidence against him are drug cheats as well.

David Millar's book gives a pretty candid insight into how teams and riders can put pressure on other riders to take drugs. I would imagine it was a similar situation at US Postal. If a rider has an ambition to ride the Tour de France and there are eight slots to fill behind Lance, the chances are if most of their team mates are doping they won't make the team because in most cases the doped riders are going to be able to perform at a higher level than they can clean.

That's the biggest thing isn't it really? You can lie your arse off like that and people will never forget what a phoney you are and that's bad enough. You get what you deserve and have to deal with that. Letting down your how family in that manner though? His kids are now associated with the biggest con in sports history for the rest of their lives. How can anybody ever forgive themselves for putting that on their kids? Well, saying that I reckon Lance probably could because he's blatantly such a massive ****.

You're probably right there, not sure the school bullies will back that up though.
