According to Marca we are set to bid for Lass Diarra this summer. It wouldn't really be a summer transfer window without this link would it but with Sandro, Parker, Huddlestone and Livermore it seems to be the one position where we have quality and depth already.

Tottenham Hotpsur are set to launch a summer transfer bid for Lassana Diarra of Real Madrid according to to report’s in MARCA.
The former-Portsmouth midfielder was linked with Tottenham by the MailOnline last year after the 27-year-old was said to be on the verge of a White Hart Lane switch with Emmanuel Adebayor.

However the French international remained in Madrid, going on to play 22 games for Jose Mourinho’s side as they won their first la liga crown in four seasons.
Lass has one year left on his contract at the Bernabeu but is set to leave the club during the summer after some off-field issues with Mourinho, with reports suggesting clubs from Turkey and France have already enquired about the player’s availability.
It is believed the player prefers a return to the England however, which could leave the way open for Harry Redknapp and Spurs.
Tottenham finished fourth in the Premier League this season, however they were denied the chance to play in next season’s Uefa Champions League when London rivals Chelsea beat Bayern Munich in Saturday’s final to take their place next year as holders.

No, thanks. We have the best duo in the prem in regards to DM. Sandro should be starting next year. He is hands down my favorite player to watch. Tireless and a dynamic player. Watching him take the ball from helpless defenders makes me smile. After seeing some video of Sahin I would switch if there were some cash thrown in. No man is irreplaceable. We just need to replace the departed one with a similar player.

Great player but not needed at the moment. His time was last season, we now have Parker and a settled Sandro. We should spend the money elsewhere ie. his teammate Sahin....

Not for me too.

All funds for fee's and wages should be focused on this illusive striker we've needed since Berbs left.

This is one player we do NOT need for me!

We have Sandro and Scott Parker. Plus Modric (in theory), Huddlestone and Livermore who can play CM. Not required as things stand.

And even if we do sell Modric, Diarra won't come in, surely?

Seems that because he's leaving he has to come here but no PSG like he was linked with last summer IIRC. Interesting.

Although this link has become almost obligatory every window, I think we should consider something before being so dismissive. If Modric was to leave would we want to play with 2DMs always? If we did than signing Diarra would not be too bizarre at all really.

Can think of worse replacements for Modric tbh.

I do think we need 4 senior players (SR, SP, TH + 1) and Livermore for those 2 CM spots.

Pretty much the last player we need. Even we sold Modric I'd rather have someone more creative come in (such as Sahin).

Disagree.

If we are playing 4-2-3-1, we probably need another holding midfielder. A better ballplayer than Sandro/Parker would of course be desireable. Ideally we'd want as close to Modric as possible (Banega would be my choice, but guess Dembele is the Woolworths option).
