What gives you greater pleasure...Defoe/pav/crouch....at the top end of the goal charts...or...Spurs near the top of the league chart? exactly.

I hear ya and absolutely there's only one choice that makes me happy.

Whilst i agree that if they were scoring more, we could be even higher... but its not all doom and gloom , after all we would settle to finish where we are now wouldn't we?, so it ain't all bad.
And yes but this is the reason why many are a little bit disappointed. It's perfectly natural that some see what "could be" and get a little pist off about it. Some do get a bit hysterical at times (myself included most likely during my weaker moments). I think it's in part due to the fact that these issues have been hanging around for at least a couple of windows and yet they still remain and so it compounds the problem.

Mind you, I'm not sure striving to be better and getting a little down about missed opportunities is a bad thing in itself. For professional sportsmen and women it's a pretty necessary ingredient to being successful. It's what I expect everyone associated with THFC is doing on a daily basis, looking for any and every area to improve and get better. It can be a little unedifying to see it manifest itself in university students, people of industry and slightly overweight otherwise patient and calm parents of 3 on a message board but hey, angst, and the associated mental issues that come with it, is a huge reason for the success of fora, regardless of content. Well, that and an overwhelming need to knock one out to donkey pr0n.

I would like to ask the OP why he thinks that critcism or discussion of problems translate uinto someone being unhappy? That's not the case for me. I am very happy with where we are, but I don't see why I should just settle for that. We are not in these competitions to take part. We are in them to win. If we have problems with our striker, or there are bad managerial decisions and so on it is frustrating because we have got to the stage that we know real success could be around the corner with one or two tweaks.

This is a forum. What would we have to discuss if we did not have people talking about issues with the side? 20 threads with each post saying about how well we played? Wow, that would be a great place to visit.

I think the problem is that after a loss we get a string of irregular posters, who spout their knee-jerk ill thought out complaints and then you never see them again until the next loss. Those of us who engage in the debates the rest of the time tend not to be like that because we know that a debate is not about making one post and then running away. We put down reasoaned arguments about what we think is needed to improve the team. It doesn't stop us being fans and it doesn't mean that we are sitting around desperately unhappy with the club.

Frankly, as much as the OP might get tired with debate threads o topics such as the strikers I am also getting tired of the routine weekly "cheer up" threads. I'm convinced people only start them to increase their rep.

The moaning on this site is incredible and non stop!

So we have a bad result here and there, people should take it for what it is, a bad ay at the office and see the bigger picture. Players make mistakes, woopy doo it happens, but right now at least every player fights for the collective cause and that combined with ability is how you do well in the overall picture.

This team has far more a positive than negative attributes and personally I believe is a joy too watch, I'll take the odd bad result and horror performance being mixed in with the quality of football and results we are seeing.

Keep going boys, the ride as a fan should be fun and I for one want it to continue like this for as long as possible.

Wtf is happening on SC ?

Threads left right and centre on how crap our strikers are, who should replace Bae? what our coaches are doing? is Harry treating our players right?
not to mention the usual jj is crap,Gomes is inconsistant and do we need pienaar? Chin up FFS.

The last time i looked we were 4th in the league and on the verge of the last 8 of the Champions League......lets be abit more positive and enjoy the run in on what could be a remarkable season...i have supported spurs for over 30 years....we've never had it so good...ENJOY!

Good post, and it's about time many on here start looking at the bigger picture of how far we've come and yes, we may have lost a couple of bad games here and there, but there is still a long way to go.

Well said. You sir (or Madam) are going up more and more in my estimation. As you have mentioned rep, take one yourself.

can't we enjoy it but at the same time make 'constructive criticsm' too?

I agree some of it is way over the top but it's a way that people can vent their frustrations about the club they love.

But yeah, enjoy the ride. times are good.....mostly!

Apparently not. Just the usual majority discussing their football club, good and bad, with the seemingly requisite extremists (the happy clappers and the doom mongers) yelling loudest.

I don't know if I'm a happy clapper or not.
Personally, if I have been ebullient over the last couple of seasons it is because I genuinely believe this is the best young squad we have seen at the Lane for two and a half decades. Really...as good as the team of the early 1980s, if not better.

Although I used to be a fair gambling man, I never, ever bet on our finishing league position. I put money on us for a top 4 finish last year, and maintained all year that we would be good for it. I was right, and a picked up a nice little wad. This year I have done the same, and had a few quid on us finishing best of the rest outside of United and Chelsea (at 10-1:eek:mg:).

So, yeah, I suppose I am a happy clapper.

I'll leave you to argue with doom mongers then I guess. Not my idea of fun. I'll just see how the seasons plays out and pray to any and all deities out there that our strikers pulls their fingers out for the run in.

Well said - Rep'd

Frankly just because I'm enjoying how we are playing at the moment doesn't mean I don't have the right to complain about how bad a loss against Blackpool is or how absolutely appalling our strikers are.

Anyone who thinks you should just ignore the team's deficiencies because we are doing well is a 'settler' and that kind of attitude won't progress us.

Am I a happy Spurs fan at the moment, yep. But we do need better strikers. and we do give away sloppy points sometimes. Fact.

I defend the OPs right to complain about folk who complain when we are having a very good season (again).
