I genuinely dont know why the press have went with this even though its a no go, obviously its for clicks for their websites but if this was the jist of it we agreed a fee chelsea got lukaku so we dont get martinez it would be strange for the club to leak the info if it looks highly unlikely weird day

They didn't say we'd agreed a DEAL, they said we agreed a FEE.

It's news.

Of course they'd report it, and should.

It's more than we've ever bid for a player

It's us Spurs fans getting excited and turning it into being done.

Man… not happening (yet).
Was excited I thought he would come. But I think Hotspur will keep trying. I think the team sees Lautaro as a good replacement for Kane should he leaves the team. It seems like the arrival of Romero makes the Spurs an interesting place to play for for many players.

My personal scouting reports on Lautaro:
- He can shoot with both feet
- Not really a powerful shooter from outside the box
- Pretty good heading skill for his size
- VERY hard working, excellent work rate. He likes to help the defense. That’s why the Argentina coach likes him more than Aguero who rarely helps the defense.
- Was a star of Argentina u 20.
- Pretty good dribbling skill but is NOT a winger.
- Play best when playing with another number 9 (like in Inter with Lukaku)
- In Argentina in Copa America 2021 he is a lone striker with 2 attacking wingers, that’s why he looks better in inter (Argentina formation is 4-3-3 instead of 4-4-2).
- In Argentina in Copa America 2019, Argentina started him along with Aguero upfront with Messi as the playmaker forward. He was playing better.
- He won penalties A LOT! He won penalties for Argentina more than Messi. But I don’t think he likes to dive.
- He is equally good as a second striker or main striker in 2 strikers formations.
- The best comparison is the young Aguero of Atletico Madrid (not the City one yet) and a bit of Luis Suarez.
- He is not a “playmaker forward” unlike Messi or Tevez. He does not hold the ball too much. So he is pretty good when playing with someone who likes to hold the ball.
- Is only 23 years of age, will get better.
- Did NOT have good chemistry with Messi in Copa America. Messi has better understanding with Aguero than Lautaro. Why Lautaro was the starter? Because of his work rate, something that Aguero doesn’t have.
- Lionel Scaloni’s undisputed starter as number 9 (not even close competition).
- Completely out of form in the first 3 Copa America games before finally regaining his form in the elimination stages.
- Pretty decent PK taker but not FK or CK taker.

WTF, just caught up on all of this weird. So weird for some to announce a bid had been accepted only to follow it up after excitement had set in with 'but it may not happen happen because of Lukaku going to Chelsea'.

I don't understand why Spurs would leak agreeing a fee £10m higher than what Fiorentina want for Vlahovic?

Surely that can't help us?
I kind of agree, but it would show fiorentina that we business and won't be mucked about.

'Dragging you heels on accepting our bid? Fine. We'll pull the trigger and go after Martinez instead'

Surely Fiorentina would just counter with, ok very well bend our arm - we will accept a bid of £60m.

Why wouldn't they? It's 100% what Levy would do if he was selling.

I think the story is factually true IMHO. We bid for Martinez because he'd a very good player at a relative bargain price, and for they careful payment terms on other deals allow us enough cash to do so.

It would then make it one in one out for Vlahovic who is more similar to Kane.

Inter want to (and need to) raise as much money as possible without causing a riot.

They were negotiating with both us and Chelsea for two sales, whilst looking for replacements.

The story probably broke sooner than they would like, so are having second thoughts and thinking who else they can sell.

I guess because most people would think that Martinez is worth more than Vlahovic, so Fiorentina better give their face a slap and get realistic about the fee they can achieve from us.

If I was to hazard a guess, I'd say that Inter want more money than they're currently getting for this deal, trying to get some other bites and using the Lukaku deal as a vehicle to try and strengthen their position that they don't need to sell so it would take a bigger fee.

Whether we get him will come down to who else is willing to get involved and for what price.

So basically we're probably back to square one in that we're interested and willing to pay good money but need to agree a new fee with Inter post-Lukaku.

I'm sure he's got a price but maybe the previously agreed fee was as high as we were prepared to go, in which case I think we'll probably turn to Vlahovic.

Mostly I would imagine this just comes down to just how much financial issues Inter really have. If it’s bad they might say not for sale but he is for sale and they just have to keep up appearances and not look like the club is falling apart.

From our perspective yes I agree, but do you think they or their fans would see it that way?

Or would they see it as evidence that we can afford and are willing to pay £60m for a striker?

And that both players are undervalued, and Inter need the money more than them?

Inter's situation is really bad. Their owner is getting sued over 250 million worth of debt. He apparently also owns the company that had PL rights in China that the PL canceled late last year.

Is Moratta still at Inter?

If so, I imagine Paratici knows the exact situation, so if we are bidding 60m then he must believe we have a chance.

You dont bid that if you know you are wasting your time.

only way this happens now is if Inter get Dzeko and Vlahovic. Also player would REALY need to push for it (can not see that either)
or if Pratici knows something about Inter finances and that they still need to sell even more after Lukaku. As i said earlier, the fee for Lukaku was known over 1 week ago.

I suppose that it is possible that Inter are telling porkies to Italian journalists.

If, as reported, they are trying to sign two of Dzeko, Correa and Zapata (or all of them?) then, until those deals are completed, it would be in their interests to pour cold water on reports of them getting a further windfall of £60m from selling Martinez.
