What are the chances of signing him in January when the Brazilian football season is over?

I would think signing him in the January window would be OK as we have enough cover to keep us going until then.

He could finish off the season with in Brazil and come over to Spurs. He could then spend the rest of the season getting settled into life in London, being used sparing (would imagine he would be tired if he played in Brazil, at the Olympics and over here) to get use to English and European football.

Damiao played for Inter tonight, didn't see it but I hear Forlan went off injured. That would make a deal difficult now, I think. January would be a possibility I'm sure - but not as a bit-part player, he's being talked about in some quarters as being a key man in the next World Cup so he's not going to make any career choice to jeopardise that. pity, the crosses we saw on Saturday he'd thrive on. I'm not ITK on any of it, just seems more unlikely than ever now.

Have always been in awe of the rumours of our interest in LD and enjoyed watching the YouTube clips of him.

Until the Olympics that is! He scored a number of goals and raised his profile and certainly outshone Neymar in this respect. But I ended up watching 3 of the Brasil games and my friend went to all of them, including the final. Honestly, whilst he did score 6 goals, his overall play wasn't particularly impressive...

The opposition were never as physical as that in the Prem and I wonder how he'd do in the EPL.

I'm not saying he's not a good player, neither am I saying he doesn't have the potential to become a super player, but the money being quoted for him really would be paid for his potential rather than what he can do now.

Hulk, whilst unattainable however was immense whenever he played.

I think they do tbh. Welbeck is a mid table team player at best, Hernandez is a decent sub to bring on, but only as a sub (similar to Defoe) and I think Rooney is in decline, and we know RVP can get injured at anytime.
