It is a bit like the deal with RM, nobody has a clue what it actually means!

I'm pretty sure that the partnership with Inter is about training methods, facilities, etc, and not about giving us first refusal on their players.

If I were him I'd definitely run my contract out even if they offered 500% pay rise when it gets to 1 year.

I thought our agreement amongst other things gave us the right to match any offer on an Inter player agreed with another club.

This is getting ridiculous now. At this rate he will NEVER be sold at all.

I've never been really sure that they actually want to sell. Perhaps only if they get over the odds. In the meantime they seem happy to entertain themselves with a bit of haggling.

To be fair to them if you had sold Sandro for £7-8M then you would probably be pretty gun shy about selling anyone ever again.

Could it be 3rd party ownership of youth players? We hear that Brazilian clubs can't afford to train young players so a third party will come in and pay for the training etc... in exchange receive a % of the player. Might be a long term investment that stops us getting f'd when buying Brazilian players?

Based on what? not questioning your opinion just wanting to know what the source of your opinion is? have you watched him a lot? if so what is it about what you have seen that makes you think he'll go on to be a top star in the future?

not much admittedly, I have seen him play a few times for Brazil, mainly in the Olympics, also the usual youtube clips, looks like a good finisher, at one point recently he was the first choice number 9 for brazil so based on that really, ive not seen much but liked what I saw

Youtube clips really aren't much to go on though, someone posted one of Jenas making him look like a superstar (far better than any of Damaio's youtube compilations for example)

I saw all his Olympic Games and thought he looked decent - nothing special but decent with an eye for goal and good movement in the box. But then to be fair the Olympics is basically U21 football and a lot of the time BRazil faced weaker teams such as Eygpt

As for being first choice for Brazil -that's not really the honour it once was if you look at who his competition for the shirt was at the time and indeed who has displaced him

I saw him live for Brazil against Ghana too at Craven Cottage a couple of years ago and he looked pretty poor most of the match (as he has done most games I have watched him play at club level on tv - ie against Barca) but there was one moment where he scored a very nice goal with a well timed run and excellent finish

I'm just not so sure he's worth the money or effort required to sign him as from what I have seen I am probably less than 50/50 as to his chances of every becoming a top level striker (and surely we'd need him to become top level to warrant the money he'll cost)

Will be interesting to see how he develops but for my money right now we're better off with Benteke

fair enough, i certainly have no evidence to dispute what you have said, I just liked what I saw, though I would agree not worth the £25M mark, in contrast I cant say I have been overly impressed with Benteke though especially in terms of finishing, as I said, I am probably in the minority

Have you watched Benteke much?

I guess a question is how much have you watched both? I have to say I've seen more of Leandro than Benteke and though that may be a bit unfair on Benteke, I have to say I think Leandro has better ball control, touch and vision. I actually think he is the more complete striker and looks to have the composure that will be needed playing teams who offer a tight defence and little time and space in the final third. Of course it's always harder to judge on differing leagues and in Brazil there is even quite a lot of the variance in the league to the campeonato and to the libertadores

Personally I'd rather take the gamble on Leandro than Benteke, despite Bentake's having played in the PL, although I'd prefer we went for a more proven striker with a decent track record than either

I guess though all the arguments for and against at this stage are somewhat superfluous as the real proof only comes if and when they make the move. Currently it looks like Leandro might end up in Serie A, so I doubt we'll ever know how well he might have done in any decent PL team never mind for us If the rumours prove true about us getting Benteke then I just hope I'm wrong about him and he can make the step up to a club looking for CL and to make a serious challenge, however I can't help but think he may well struggle to perform so well without the time and space he has benefited from at Villa.
