Rio was an overrated clown about 2 years ago & Vidic was better. Now he's possibly the best CB in the world

In spurs terms however, this probably means..

"Even though King could only play around 20-30 games a season 2 years ago, he was our best defender. Now he's retired.."

You think ledley will still be playing and cutting it at the top in 2 years time?

If we got to the CL you could understand him wanting to stick around, but do you really think his fitness and condition would allow that

I dreamt about Ledley King last night. I made my debut for Spurs in the next round of the Carling Cup, can't remember the opponents, but we won, and I scored a goal. I remember in my dream after the game, Ledley was talking to me saying well done on my debut and stuff, and I asked him how his knees were. He said they were sore, and he looked really upset, tears filled my eyes, as I expressed how it was unfair. I told him how if it wasn't for the injuries he'd be the best centre back in the world, but even so I was proud to have him as my captain. He put his arm round me and said thanks.

Then I woke up.

I love Ledley.

Don't see it myself. If this is true, hoe did we fail to qualify for Euros. IMAO He has great pace which often makes up for his errors in judgement and lapses in concentration.
Every time he goes forward he is a liability. Trouble is he does not know his limitations due to his XL ego.

So you have altered your original laughable post to give a semi-coherent opinion. Even so, it is deeply misguided. Quite honestly, you don't captain a team to the Champions League by being a 'liability' or a 'clown'. Quite honestly, Alex Ferguson doesn't have you in his team for six years straight if you are a 'clown'. Quite honestly, Ferdinand is one of the quickest, strongest, most skillful and most determined defenders in the world. He used to be too laissez-faire and his concentration dipped as you say but if all he had was pace he would have got found out a long time ago. Using the 'England didn't get to the Euros argument' is absurd. That's like saying Berbatov, Hleb, Shevchenko (pre Chelsea), Weah, Giggs and many other players are 'clowns' because their countries are poor.

I do have a personal distaste for people who, quite understandably, don't like the personalities of players like Ferdinand, Lampard, Terry and A Cole but then as a result try to make an argument that they are all crap and overrated. They are not. They are all excellent players. I really couldn't care about their personalities. I would rather have them all as fit footballers performing at the top of their game consistently which cannot be said for Ledley King (the fit part) and the whole of our squad, with the exception of Woodgate.

I think we saw how good and influential Rio is when he had his suspension. Silvestre looked very good alongside him, but playing with Brown he turned into a sort of cultured Michael Dawson. Vidic looked very shaky in his first season (remember Barney bullying him at the Lane?) and if they'd lost Rio they'd have had big problems. Fantastic defender.

OK, I am obviously in a minority of one, who doesn't think Rio is the best defender the world has ever seen. So with Baresi, Sammer Maldini etc spinning in their graves, I shall bow respectfully to the elder statesman that is SS57 and concede defeat....
 :bs: (nearest I can find to a white flag) :silenced: I'll shut up now. Anyone seen my coat?

Anyway, on another tack, someone I do rate really highly as a defender is injured again. Whassup with the King?

Ledley, where for art thou?

Whats the fucking point of having a centre back who can only ever play every other game. Used to be a great player, but now his situation is fucking joke.

One start in six games in the league so far this season.

He shouldn't be our captain anymore and that's that.

I hope he's putting in some coaching with the youth & reserve team.
