Other than the usual suspects of Capel, Downing and even Ashavin to play on the left wing. If we aren't getting any of them then who?

We have been linked with Hunt, and one I have missed out on but found in the archives which I rate would be Pranjic.

No one else has bid, and not much of Janurary left.

Plays with Modric and Corluka for Croatia. Surley an easy choice.

---------Pav-----Defoe
Pranjic-Palacios--Modric-Lennon
BAE---Woodgate-Corluka-Hutton
-----------Gomez

Hell buy Pranjic and Hunt, be cheaper than Downing, or Ashavin, or Capel.

As much as everyone may claim to love Spurs on here, there is no denying we are really lacking atm. The left side completely is a cause for concern. Nugent looked so dangerous down that side against us, because we just have no strength there. Bale is a good player but is dreadfully lacking confidence, and this record mustn't be helping him. As I've said, O'Hara isn't good enough, and Bentley out of position isn't solving anything. Yes, we STILL need a left winger, and for me the jury is still out on BAE at LB too. Think about, are they really good enough down the left? For me, no. We need someone, and badly. Someone quality, too. Not just another fúcking average Joe who could 'do a job for us'. We need talent, everyone else fúcking has it these days.

Pranjic would be very good indeed.
If we're restricting ouselves to premiership experienced players Kevin Kilbane has already been signed (thank god).
I suggest more Bilbao players than SpursKing suggests players from a particular continent but I'd like to see Yeste. He's an international and I'm sure we wouldn't have to pay the ridiculious amounts you have to pay for premiership players.

Yeah, he's isn't all that.

Which makes you wonder why he looked so good against us, caused us problems throughtout, got in behind us time and time again and put them 1-0 up.

Oh.

gareth bale?

personally, i believe that we should try and get drenthe on loan from madrid for the rest of this season, good left foot, pace and skill, and would add balance. he will be a star for them in the future i think, but this year he has mostly been a substitute, hopefully we could persuade juande that we would be a great move for him to gain experience of playing under pressure and being a regular fixture in the side

O'Hara, I thought, attempted to give Bale a lot of protection, and Bale often overlapped O'Hara he was sitting so deep. Yet still they managed to get opened up down that side time and time again. The truth is we kept getting caught out there with both Bale (who's obviously lacking in confidence as is also costing us) and O'Hara covering, and all of Portsmouth's notable attacks as far as I remember came about from that channel. O'Hara sat back a lot of the game and was still inneffectual in defensive areas, and at the cost of an atacking outlet. Added to the fact he's not good at linking the play, why oh why does he play? I guess because we have no other real options?

We need a left winger, and then a left back, way before another striker.

I think we need a LB as a matter of priority -

I don't think we need a left winger at all - if we get one nice, to me it's not a priority at all

a lm would be good

but priority wise gk lb striker cm/lm all come before a left winger

the problem left side defensively is Bale ATM - give o'hara a decent LB and I'm confident those two will manage it between most times

someone like hunt who i seemore as a lm than lw would be nice to boost up the squad

nugent is fookin shite

Agreed - Nugent is the type of player who shines in the lower leagues but can't quite cut it in the PL, so its concerning that he regularly looked a threat against us the other night.

Bale needs to shape up, we've seen what he can do on his day, and I do not rate BAE at all. He has flashes of brilliance then long spells of mediocrity and idiocy. As for Gilberto - I don't know why we're keeping him.

Personally I'd take a gamble on Chris Gunter at left-back for a couple of matches, especially in safe bets like the Burnley game. I think he has a lot of potential and a good run in the team would help prove that. :hump:

gunter at lb is a good shout

maybe not for the burnley game as BAE needs a run out

but might be worth it at utd

(and remember they'll almost certainly be fielding a weakened team too - so not as fearsome as a prem game would be)

Oh.

Indeedy.

I have a good mate who's a Preston fan and he was always going on about him there. His movement is akin to Keane's imo.

You think?

United don't usually field a weakened team in the FA Cup if they're playing good opposition.

They will play with the Berbatovs, Rooneys ,Ronaldos and Carricks

Makes the decision to sell Malbranque without any replacement (let alone someone better than him) strange.
Maybe it was to fund an overpriced right midfielder we didn't need.

Agreed Kendall, I'd do it the other way round DC Boy - field Gunter against Burnley and see how he does, the chances of us losing 4-0 are slim so we can afford to take a chance on him. The 3-goal advantage gives us a comfortable base to be able to do that.

I'd then assess his performance, if he does well then field him against United, if not then perhaps go with the tried and tested Bale or BAE options. United will want to win the FA Cup and will no doubt field a full strength team.

What we need is a good solid LB with International experience maybe having played at WC semi final stage.

Y-P Lee?
