The past 25 years, Hoddle had to be the greatest. In fact I only place him second behind Jimmy Greaves in the last 45 years.

Besides Hoddle, in the last 25 years, I would say the following will rank above Keane: Gazza, Lineker, Sherry, maybe even Klinsman.

I was thinking about that the other day Dougal - but for that special season, (will Ronaldo top 49 - I don't think so) plus his work as reserve coach etc - I reckon yes - Legend :)

to be fair on ronaldo though, his starting position is deeper than Clives and Clive did it in 60+ games... Ronaldo has 37 in 38 games. the pro ronaldo argument would therefore be he'd get 60+goals in the same games as Clive got 49.

fair enough triks - obviously ronaldo is way better than clive allen (though clive allen didn't dive etc like ronaldo) - but still it's an interesting question (to me anyway :)

Ok Legend line-up for past 25 years

----------Keane--------Sheringham------------------

----Ginola------Hoddle--------Gazza------Waddle----

---?????-------Mattbutt(c)-----King-------Perryman----

------------------Clemence---------------------------

strikers are the hardest to choose in this line-up, but I chose it mostly on comitment they brought in the club, otherwise others would get a mention. Who do we put LB. And I also think Roberts deserves a mention but gave King the benifit of the doubt, for he will qualify ahead of him if he remains in the club for all his carrier. Still very hard to choose.
The midfield wont work....but who gives a toss....

If we're going back 25 years it's hard to leave out Osvaldo Ardiles, Ricky Villa, Tony Galvin and particularly Graham Roberts. I would put all of them ahead of Sheringham, Waddle and Ginola in the 'legend' stakes.

Its all subjective. Hoddle for pure talent undoubtably but he was just finishing up at Monaco when i first got into football. I wish id been around to watch him in matches instead of just on youtube. So for me, its out of Klinsmann or Ginola. When Klinsmann signed there was such a buzz. Before he came I liked football. Once we had him i was absolutely hooked. Ginola for making my season ticket worthwhile. We played such garbage and he was on another planet. He could have gone and played for a better team, but he never complained. He was spurs through and through. Tottenham attract players like that and their charecter meets with the player. Swashbuckling, imaginatative, capable. I love this club for them.

Another legend though (and i never saw him play other than in clips and what my uncle says about him) is Dave Mackay. He'd run through brick walls for tottenham. The kinda player we need today

I'm only 20, so I have no choice but to say Ledley. He may not be the greatest legend in the history of Tottenham, but he sure as hell is in my lifetime.

got to be Mabbutt, no question. Tottenham through and through, top quality player, great captain and a thoroughly nice bloke to boot.

after that I'd go Hoddle, Teddy, Gazza, Ginola in that order. out of our current players King and Keane would also make my top 10.
