Four more to be postponed

Essentially this will be more games postponed than going on Cancel all until boxing day perhaps

They’ll call it all off soon I reckon. Part of me think they should go on and play the fixtures that can go ahead. If not the league will be in real trouble.

It's only this round and the League Cup midweek before Boxing day.

It only makes sense to call all of it off at this stage and then reevaluate on the 23rd and 24th whether Boxing Day goes ahead.

Just postpone every fixture & re-evaluate for boxing day. Every club is being slammed by this. We’re about to have 4 games in hand by the time Sunday rolls around & that’s postponed due to the Liverpool outbreak.

The FA & its clubs should have started to incentivize vaccinations long ago. Too many footballers are complete dolts off the pitch. Clubs should take vaccination status into account in the transfer market as well.

If we can get rid of the March and June internationals it's doable.

But I bet anything FIFA and UEFA won't allow it.
There's also January internationals too. There is no chance they will be called off. Too many palms have been greased by the Qatari's for anything to be pushed back or called off. Safety & public health takes a back seat when international & intercontinental football is at play. It's so bad this year because of the Omicron. The variants incubation period is only like 2-3 days so theres all these positive cases coming up at the same time. Every other variant has still had that 10 day period where you could be positive. Made it easier to get a handle on.

I think so that boxing day would be ok but who th ehell knows really as i think more nd more players will get this virus - so I cant see what a ciruit breaker as they call it - will achieve.

On a related point - I really fucking miss watching spurs. Even when we played shit - it was still fun and funny to watch. Mannnn

If they call off every game until boxing day, what they should do is send every player home with multiple at home kits to test themselves every day & close the training grounds until next Wednesday. Only those allowed to train will be those that tested negative throughout & players should wait in their cars until results of Wednesdays tests roll in at which point, they can enter the buildings again. I dont see any other way for the league to get a handle on this than the above.

The issue is what if you still get six or seven players from a team who are infected - games will still be postponed even if theyre not entering the trainign facilities.

Unless we essentially say - any team plays regardless of numbers.

Totally irrelevant
Circuit breaker will do nothing, until the whole country is in lockdown, and nobody wants that again.
It is something we are going to have to live with. All players must be vaccinated, mandated if necessary, take necessary precautions, but treated like all other injuries if absent.
Plenty of other professions are in much closer contact with Covid and they don't shut down.

I weirdly quite like looking at the table and seeing us have loads of games in hand.

Gets you saying to yourself ‘if we win our games in hand we’ll move up to X position’

And then we go and lose them like normally happens!

But without it, you are going to be left with multiple teams having 3 or 4 games in hand & the teams lucky enough to have played their games having distinct advantages.

Yeah I find it strange how many people are calling for a Premier League circuit breaker like it will sort everything out. It clearly won’t. If we go away and come back for Boxing Day or New Year fixtures then players will continue to drop in exactly the same way they are doing now. It’s either national lockdown or we accept this is how things will be until a significantly higher percentage of the country are triple jabbed.

So we stop playing, ‘reset’ and then what? The same thing will happen again. Players will continue to drop, clubs will continue to shut their training grounds, teams will continue to accrue games in hand.

i think after the public health announcement yesterday football needs to take responsibility and close itself down until the new year - playing games in front of large crowds don't make no sense at the moment it puts everyone at an increased risk - extend the season at the end no great hardship

surely its the rate of infection that is the issue atm plus not knowing the true impact of this variant - the potential for infection at big gatherings is obvious football needs to act a little responsibly and shut itself down until the new year imo - we then begin to start getting a bit more knowledge of the variant and where we all stand but it seems to be a bit of an unneccessary risk for everyone to be taking when there are other options
