modrics strengths are 'passing' whatabout the other qualities need to be in the center of midfield, he got owned by villa today.

Yes and what about the countless other games where he's "owned" the opposition? No matter how good he is he's not going to play every game to the highest of his ability.

As for Aaron, well surely Harry/Joe/Kevin etc must be telling him to get running at the fullback again, I'm sure he'll get back to his pre-injury form soon.

Lennon shouldn't get anywhere near the our starting 11. I'd much rather play Jenas out of position on the right that him.

It's not often I get on my high horse on this site, but what a load of absolute ****ing shite. Lennon least we not forget still finished top of our assist chart last season despite being injured for the most of it, and the season before was our player of the season. Yes he's out of form, but statements like this are absolutely absurd.

People here have very short memories, mind you they're probably the same 'fans' who wanted rid of Gareth Bale last season.

I agree with the sentiment of this thread, the fact is he does need time on the bench to regain match sharpness and find some form. However some of the criticism that has been levelled at him is nothing short of insulting to a player whom in the last three seasons has been one of the most dangerous players at the club.

In other news, I thought he looked pretty sharp today although at times his passing was poor and he still seems to lack a bit of self confidence.

He cut into the middle of the field more. Glad to see him doing that. Keeps the fullbacks honest when they know he's not going to the goal line every time.

That's a bit harsh mate. I'm only stating the obvious. I like Lennon however on current form he shouldn't be near our starting 11. I stand by having stated that Jenas should be played out of position to accommodate his place. Lennon is unlikely to find match sharpness though is he.... just sub appearances. H wont regain a starting spot until one of the other mid fielders gets dropped for consistent poor displays which doesn't look likely at all.

if you really belive that then good luck to you sir.

it's quite obvious from his tenure that redknapp rates lennon highly and that he is one of his ''boys''

he wont be kept out of the team by the likes of jenas, that is for sure, maybe a game here and there to keep lennon on his toes, nothing more

Sorry got a bit worked up, no offence meant:wink:.... But surely you don't really think playing Jenas out of position will be more effective than even an off form Lennon? Lennon showed signs of his old self today for a start. Would I be wrong in thinking you've never been Lennon's biggest fan??

Anyway, the way I see it we need Jenas in the middle if we continue the trend of playing a 4-5-1.

To be fair to Lennon he did have that injury and was shortly after in the England squad that....well...you know the story. A lot of that squad have failed to start the season running. I think its a confidence thing more than a sharpness thing. He needs to take on his man more, which may i add is easy for me to say but not so easy when you have thousands of fans all waiting with a breath of expectancy every time you pick up the ball.

I would like to see him start the next game, give the lad a boost and see what he does with it. People are always crying out for players like gio to come and prove their worth, yet ain't willing to stick with one of our more established players for a bit and let him regain the form that he had last year before his injury. I'm telling you know that if I was an opposing LB I would fear facing lennon a lot more than I would facing jenas or bentley. Something that people don't normally point out is that most opposition tend to double up on lennon, which with charlie didn't really create much space but with hutton a more attacking RB means they either just stick their LB on lennon...(good times) or double up and leave hutton acres of space (good times).

he got a cross to Crouch.....what more did he do?

Did you watch the game?

From Football365

The Holland midfielder was moved from the right into a more central role after the restart, with Pavlyuchenko withdrawn for Aaron Lennon.
The change almost paid dividends in the 51st minute when Lennon stood a cross up for Crouch once again to nod down but Van der Vaart was somehow beaten to the ball by a desperate Stiliyan Petrov lunge.

Moments later, Lennon forced a fine stop from Friedel with a low angled drive and, when he stood up another dangerous cross - this time with his left foot - 15 minutes from time, Spurs took the lead.

James Collins was booked for felling Lennon in full flight, only escaping a straight red by covering defenders.

Lennon was rampant and his latest cross found Hutton, whose shot was blocked before Van der Vaart was substituted to a standing ovation in the final minute, Sandro coming on to make his Premier League debut.

Maybe you should...
