He did and he is. But I was replying to a post that suggested he should be banned for FOUR years. That’s a little extreme, no?

The ban he’s received is fine.
Betting on games is bad enough but when it involves the team you play for, for me that's so much worse. Addicted or not dont shit on your own doorstep. Whatever he got he would have deserved as that's what the law dictated he deserved.

The law dictated he deserved a 10 month ban 🤷🏻‍♂️ Four years would have been ridiculously punitive.

is no one talking about the fact that the game is filled with sport betting services sponsoring stadiums, covering shirts, litterally pushed in young players faces every day - and we’re surprised some players crack?!

There have always been addictive behavioural challenges facing players - alcohol, illegal drugs, sex and obviously betting (which isn't a new thing but obviously where it involves betting on matches, it's on another level of being unwise). The old adage has been them having too much time on their hands. Golf isn't for everyone but my goodness, they have the money to indulge all sorts of hobbies that would be positive.

Just looking at the advertising hoardings at Selhurst Park last night, it was wall-to-wall gambling outfits, a lot of them seeming to be those Chinese ones with random numbers in their names (ky586, 6686bet to name that I saw). Then there were the usual suspects like Betway, Bet365, etc. They really need to cut down on these outfits being allowed to be so prominently tied to clubs.

It's all very well making them put disclaimers in their ads and telling people how to set limits or whatever but that's just box-ticking. Like alcohol ads telling people to drink responsibly - "drink responsibly BUT BUY OUR ALCOHOL but drink responsibly". None of these companies give a solitary fuck about the end users of their product.

It's mentioned quite often, it just doesn't get the same coverage as if a player gets banned for betting breaches.

The problem is these companies pump so much money into the game it's then hard to remove them without putting some clubs at risk now I feel.

Re the gambling ads If you look at the 6686 site it has some connection to the Isle of Man and licensed in the UK by the Gambling Commission , doubt they have a connection to mainland China as gambling is illegal there.

On the subject of Tonali , Newcastle really have been done , suppose in theory thay could could cancel his contact and save on his wages but can't see them getting any of the transfer money back , still the Saudi government has plenty of money so they can bail out Newcastle :ROFLMAO:

Dan Burn has been given pretty much the freedom to wrestle players to the ground in every game without any punishment... I swear our players get booked for very little in games by comparison...

Authorities are too busy trying to punish big bad Everton as they don’t have as rich lawyers...

Feel like the game will be completely ruined in a few years because of the Saudis/Man City

This is why it will be special if we can do something this season while things are still somewhat normal.

I don’t care so much about Enic/Levy, it could be far worse. I’d say they are saints compared to the types that run Newcastle, Villa, Sheff Utd and City.

Slightly lazy on my part but there always seems to be Chinese in the ads. Maybe just catering to a global market or maybe they have ties to a different Chinese sponsor. I'm seeing another one at Stamford Bridge right now (ky22) which seems to be the same people as ky586 (Kaiyun) who are also registered on the Isle of Man. But if it's the same company, why have multiple similarly named sites? It's just shady.

Edit - Actually, looking into it further, they're all connected through this Isle of Man registered company, TGP Europe, who seem to be nothing more than a conduit for gambling sites catering to the Chinese market to operate in Europe.

Whenever I see an 8 in a betting firms name, I know it’s aimed at the Chinese/far east market.

I've developed a strong dislike of Newcastle for many obvious reasons, but chief among them is Edward Howe, who I dislike for the same reasons Stewart Lee dislikes Richard Hammond: I think he's both a bully and a coward. He'll happily give you a kicking, but only if the big boys are doing it too. He's proper pathetic, hiding behind Tindall on the touchline and the Saudi state in the press room. He'll talk up the Saudi World Cup and how good they've been to him but when he's asked about human rights, suddenly it's not his place to say anything. Fucking hell, people give Klopp or Southgate grief but at least they believe in something and are happy to stand behind it, which this haunted boy never would (it's his babylike features combined with the wrinkles on his face, and also him being called "Eddie" despite being 45 that makes him seem weirdly out of time).

But that all sort of paled in comparison to discovering this.

Either this is a lie and he thinks it's impressive or it's true and he thinks it's impressive and I cannot decide which is worse. Either way, he's the worst person in Britain. At least murderers have some conviction.

He’s a scummy little lickspittle for a murderous theocracy. The problem with sports journalists today is they are slightly cowardly too, they ask him about human rights and then let him off the hook. A good journalist would lay a trap for him and pin him down on it. But sports journalists just aren’t interested in doing this.

Perhaps he is a mate of John Terry ?

Apparently the FA are investigating Tonali betting whilst at Newcastle now. Suggestions that blue bet in Eddie Howe to be sacked. Crazy!
