Manure are getting in a right state, batten down the hatches.

Manchester United have banned four media outlets from today’s news conference after claiming they had not been given right of reply to negative stories about the club.

Sky, ESPN, Manchester Evening News and the Mirror have all been excluded from manager Erik ten Hag’s briefing ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League game with Chelsea after reporting some players were unhappy with the Dutchman and his methods.

“We are taking action against a number of news organisations today, not for publishing stories we don’t like, but for doing so without contacting us first to give us the opportunity to comment, challenge or contextualise,” read a club statement.

“We believe this is an important principle to defend and we hope it can lead to a re-set in the way we work together.”

I'm sure journos at those media outlets will be suitably chastened and definitely won't now be sharpening their pencils and calling every contact they know to follow up some of those rumours they've been hearing about.

IF they weren't given a chance to respond or comment, I don't blame them. As funny as it is to see United crumble, some media do also need taking down a peg (or several).

While I get the principle behind it, it’s pretty much showing a red rag to a bull isn’t it.

Maybe in this instance it is a bit much, but there are some in the media who need humbling as well. They'll do clickbaity headlines and articles with no substance based on "sources". They won't care about the people they're writing about and how it affects them. Remember the treatment Sterling got? It needs a serious overhaul and regulation. They have zero shame. Football journalism has become one big gossip column and saying things because it will rile someone up, instead of fact checking and actually reporting with any decency.

Neil Ashton getting shitty is great to see. I wish we had taken a harder line with the press in the past but I’m not sure this is the right way to go about it.

Came on to say exactly this. Good luck getting the benefit of the doubt Mr Ten Haag with any poor results moving forwards too.

I love how they felt it was important to put out a statement - but never did "comment, challenge, or contextualize" the stories that ran in the press...

So what do Manure do on Sunday 17th , they have a game at Liverpool which is on Sky are they going to ban all interviews with Sky , don't think they can under the TV contract.
Conveniently today's game with Chelsea is on Amazon , if it had been on Sky would Sky journalists be banned from the pressie , doubt it.
Of course Manure could always refuse to accept any TV money from Sky :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Gotta laugh.

My mate is definitely living in the noughties still.

He went on a Whatsapp tirade about United's crap recruitment this summer and ended it with "I still believe we should have gone all out and got Kane and Rice".

And this is why they are in the mess they are. Their fans are still living in the past and believe you have to just sign the best from the rest.

That used to work when systems weren't so important, but now every player needs to really fit.

Kane and Rice probably would have but those days have long gone.

I told him Kane would have cost 150, that's if Levy even picked up the phone

IMO ETH will be save until Ratcliffe takes over and then he'll be scrutinised game by game and if he runs into a blip he'll be gone.

Surely ETH’s player assessment will be taken into account given that their two recent standout players in Maguire and McTominay were being pushed out the club, whilst ETH’s transfer picks are not performing at all. Would not be a surprise if transfers in are handled differently in future.
