Disagree. I think the rumours will have cheered the team up, but the reality is that the results they achieve now will be attributed to LVG who they obviously have no love for. I fully expect them to cruise for the next few months.

I can see why you might think that, and in reality nobody knows how their form will continue.

The good news is he isn't in now.

If he would to come in now he could easily shift them up the table with a load of 1-0 wins.

Yeah unless Mourinho is able to bring in a world class attacker or two the results will go the same way as LVG as their tactics are similar.

Mourinho relies on defensive football while counter attacking with class attackers who can make those brilliant passes and finish.

While LVG relies on possession football keeping the football away from your opponent so you're good defensively as they can't score if they don't have the ball while relying on class attackers to make the brilliant passes and finish.

LVG is failing right now because he doesn't have the class attackers for the final ingredient, but it's an ingredient which Mourinho relies on as well.

Until they fix it Mourinho will do little better, top 4 maybe, but no title.

That is unless they get in that class player or two.

The EPL has changed a lot of late too. It used to be that 'high energy' football was frowned on and seen as inferior to the slow, languid styles of South America, Italy and Spain. All of a sudden, high pressing and quick counter attacks have become popular and very effective and some clubs that used to play at a stroll are suddenly finding it hard to cope with.
