There've only been two before Marsch.; Bradley and David Wagner at Huddersfield. Wagner did a good job at Huddersfield, getting them promotion to the PL and keeping them up for a season considering their squad.
Wagner's essentially German, though. He was born there, grew up there and spent his entire career there (speaks with a German accent). He only played for the US national team cos his mum married an American guy.

The only truly American manager prior to Marsch was Bradley who was a total disaster. I admit I thought Jesse would go down the same path when they sold their best players and bought a load of new guys, but fair play to him he's had a great start to the season and some of the signings look very decent, Aaronsson especially.

Hope they have a good season (despite 2 batterings from Spurs).

Fair do's. I knew the German background but thought he'd played and coached in the US League for a while. Just googled and I was wrong - and also learned his biological father was Thai.

Let's be honest, American coaches haven't exactly lit up the EPL so far. Bob Bradley immediately springs to mind...

Be honest with yourself, that has nothing to do with it, it's because he's American. The arrogance stems from that. I actually felt sorry for Bradley, he'd done a pretty good job with the national team, and was brought in after the window had closed, so no preseason and no chance to mold the team, Swansea were a shambles.

Jesse is one of the best human beings you will meet. When he was with Red Bull New York he routinely went out of his way to make sure everyone in the organization was recognized in one way or another. He genuinely cared about every staff member and his team, and built an extremely tight knit squad.

He deserves all the plaudits he gets and I hope he can drag Leeds up to midtable this season.

They do look like they’ve made some quality signings over summer, very under the radar.

Also I think it was at a cost of something like - 1 million due to money thay got for Phillips and Raphina (as long as Barcelona actually pay the cash!).

Thought they might struggle losing those two but got Koch in who’s looking decent at defensive midfield and Aaronson who has slotted in at attacking midfield, alongside Harrison who see,s to be getting better.

Rodrigo also doing well up in continued absence of Bamford (who may have a fight to get back in).

Plus another of their big signings Summerville is on bench so is an option to come in.

Whether it has anything to do with it or otherwise, it's a fact. American coaches have not been a great success in the EPL. Nothing to do with any anti-American bias. No demonstrable arrogance from anyone. Leaving Bob Bradley aside, can you or anyone else explain why hardly any US coaches have been a success over here. Jesse Marsch is doing a sterling job at Leeds, but he's very much the exception to the rule.

Personally, I'd like to see more US coaches having the same effect on other EPL teams as Marsch is having at Leeds. You can't have enough of a good thing, but just shouting about bias is not answering the problem, or even asking the question.

Bob Bradley aside there's only been Marsch, so on that bases they are doing extremely well (at present).

As I’ve said on here in the past. My family are all Leeds fans. Well we lost my dad about three months ago after a short illness and one of his last wishes was that football shirts were to be worn to his funeral. Close family members had to take their pick from his collection of ~30 leeds shirts. Never felt dirtier in my life. Had to wear a T-shirt underneath despite it being boiling hot.

I never felt much affinity for them growing up. My dad was very much an armchair fan but the time we were old enough for football. I took my younger brother (leeds fan) to his first game (spurs -leeds at whl). I do have a bit of a soft spot for them now though. Hope they stabilise. Their fans have had a shit old time the last 30 years or so.
