Was thinking this whilst on the john this morning...

Fabregas leaving would rock Arsenal, but they have Ramsey & Wilshere to step into his role. Who do we have if Modric leaves...? Worrying. Very.

All it will mean is a change of system. i.e. a midfield of

Sandro-Hudd
Lennon-VdV-Bale

VDV can not play in central midfield. He has neither the tactical discipline or the stamina to play CM. Stupid comment on so many different levels.

Chelsea had a £22m bid rejected for Luka and SSN understands they intend to make an improved bid.

Its insulting that they even feel they can offer such an amount having paid £50 for Torres.

This is clearly an attempt to unsettle the player and encourage him to hand in a transfer request.

I would suggest us putting in a counter bid of £5m for Torres - but they may actually accept !!!
Seriously that is an absolutely derisory offer - and can only be placed to destabilise the player.
Lets hope Luca is as grounded as we all think and will stick it out with us for at least 1 more season.....

Well if he does then what can we do? Its like someone resigning at work - the day they resign, mentally they leave...
I'm sure he won't go there anyway.

I have full faith in Levy in these matters, and if Luka did hand in a transfer request, i'm pretty certain Levy would instigate an auction with all of the big players (UK and Europe) and ensure a FANTASTIC price for modders. Far exceeding the laughable 22m (ffs - Jordan Henderson was 20m!!!).

Quite simple, continue rejecting every bid which comes in. If Modric moans, tell him to look at his contract. Transfer window closes, Modric has to get on with it.

Exactly, this guy is too important to sell! If he did want to leave or hand in a transfer request then just let him see out his contract in the reserves. The £3-4m it would cost a year to do this would be worth it compared to the untold cost of having him play for a rival team.

So Chav$ki believe he is only £2m more than Henderson and £4m less than Milner!!? The bidding war has begun now though. For the first time I fear we're going to lose him.

I don't want to cause any aggravation here or anything.

But how much is Modric worth? He is nearly the complete Centre Mid, but he doesn't score goals - a big factor. How much is he worth compared to the likes of Xavi, Iniesta and perhaps maybe Fabregas, albeit they're all racist Europeans.

But are we overvaluing him in the financial sense?

He is the heart of the team, and invaluable in many ways, but financially?

If Modric goes no matter what the price is, i will be forever doomed to thinking we are indeed a feeder club, he must stay, simple as...

If you exclude his importance to us, his age and his long contract, I'd say about £35m would be his Non-Manchester City market value. You'd have to pay a lot more if you include the things I've said above and I can't see anyone offering that. Even if they did Levy would reject it!

are you being serious?

Chelsea bought Ramieres for £16million and he is shit and he was unproven in the EPL. They bought Essien for £24million and he doesnt score many goals either. Henderson has just gone for £20million. If we sell our best player to one of our rivals, what does that say to our other good players? They might start handing in transfer requests and then that will devalue their market value. So unless we get an offer more than £40million, we shouldnt sell any of our stars.
