A piece by Stobart who generally has, in the past at least, provided a little more little more truth than some reporters.

''The chairman intends to take a less involved role in the club's football operations and transfer business after repeated mistakes which have hampered the club's growth.

An internal review after Spurs' disappointing start to the season resulted in a decision to restructure the football side of the club, with Levy telling confidants that he will take a step back and focus on financing and delivering the planned new 56,000-seater stadium.''

Everyone happy with the way in which we are going behind the scenes and does this give Levy a stay of execution in the minds of those who want rid?

Is it too little too late?

Or do you think that this restructring can provide us with a platform to kick on?

While I feel that Levy on the whole has done a good job, I know others hugely disagree, this to me sound like we are improving some major deficiencies and we finally have a plan throughout the Club that our manager is involved in which must be positive and hopefully points to a bit f stability at the helm. Of course whether Levy can stick to this is another matter....

I think its a good idea. Whilst there is no denying that we've progressed well under Levy's ways, if you're stepping back and looking at the whole time line since ENIC came in, I've felt we've tried to be too clever in the market in recent times.

In other words the lines have become blurred between team needs and buying just good potential with strong prospects for high resale. The balance doesn't feel right and you only have to look at our squad now, bloated with an average/decent feeling of quality spread through out for the most part.

We need to be buying less and focusing on quality and what the team needs, not quantity and stockpiling players who we hope we can sell on for a pretty penny. And we should be topping up the squad from our youth.

I believe Levy did so well in the market he lost sight on what was really important. Of course we need to be shrewd still in how we use the market, as we;ve gained a competitive edge from Levy's exploits in the past - that there is no doubt. But equally, we need to remember that prioritising the needs of the team allows a better functioning team - and that enhances individual values anyway.

The penny has finally dropped Mr Levy. Let people who know about football manage the football side. You concentrate on world domination. Starting with Hotspur island. (new stadium)

All sounds great to me. Harmony behind the scenes. Ambition. Patience with the manager. Focus on delivering the new stadium.

I'm sure someone will find something to blame Levy for though.

Levy taking a step back to concentrate on the business, while letting football people manage the football side?

Sounds perfect. I'll believe it when I see it though, Levy's a control freak, the first sign of failure on the football side and he'll decide he needs to take control of things himself again.

The appointment of Paul Mithell would back all this up.

Unfortunately having read the article it does not contain really hard evidence just a bit of ITK and mostly telling us stuff that we already know.

It could have been written by anyone on here to be fair.

Ultimately, as the man with the money, Levy can only take so much of a backseat on the football side.

If Baldini, Mitchell and Poch come to him and ask for a player, presumably he will still have ideas on what that player is worth in terms of transfer fee and wages, and I can't see him letting go to the extent that he trusts Baldini to make those decisions.

Hope so. Levy as a finance guy is one of the best in the biz and has had us punching above our weight for a good long while. Some much needed stability, patience and spine is needed wrt the football operations. Not only from Levy but from Joe as well if some of the stories are true.

I know I know, we can't fall behind etc but a season not in the top 6 is not a death knell as we all know so as long as the long term trend is improvement just show some gumption until the stadium is sorted.

Well (if this is true) he's basically admitting he's fucked up to some degree or another so isn't it possible that all those who were blaming Levy all this time for certain things might have actually had a point?

One could just as easily say "I'm sure someone will find some way of justifying Levy's fuck-ups" because that gone on equally as much as the Levy blame game.

Wasn't there ITK which said similar back when we appointed AVB and were looking like going back to the continental structure?

Actually that's quite a bit easier than most might imagine. Levy sets an overall transfer and wages budget and the football men have work within that budget. Once the limit is reach then no further funds are available. This can be reviewed on bi-annual basis before each transfer window so everyone then knows what can and can't be spent.
