Daniel Levy
flew out to Dubrovnik, Croatia to sort out Modric's new deal.

Apparently he (Modric) will be doubling his salary and earning about 80,000 pounds per week. It's supposedly a 6-year-deal.

This is said to be a response to the offers which have been coming in (or are about to be coming in) for Modric (i.e. Manchester United, Chelsea, Inter-Real Madrid). The deal is to be signed today (Sunday).

In regards to the rumour of Mario Mandzukic (in the transfers forum), Zdravko Mamic said he wasn't even discussed.

Meanwhile, they also managed to work out a friendly between the two clubs (Tottenham-Dinamo Zagreb) which will be played in Zagreb sometime in the spring of 2011.

Thanks for posting, Dinpomp. If we manage to get Luka to sign a new deal in the same summer that Bale and King have put pen to paper we'll be doing fantastically well. Would that just leave Gomes as the only real key man we wouldn't have on a nice juicy long contract? Sign up Modric and Gomes for the long term, and THFC will really be motoring.

Should we be disappointed that there seems to be no interest from Spurs in Mandzukic? I'm not sure how good he is; could Spurs do better or are we missing a trick here?

Mandžukić is fantastic player... but he makes the ones like Joey Barton look smart next to him. If there wasn't for his character and behavior, he'd be in top, top club already last season. He was fined 100 000 euros earlier this season for bad behavior.

Hopefully he signs up and it puts to bed all the rumours, I think I would actually cry if we sold Modric before a season which could include Champs league football

Is it me or does anyone else think that a club Chairman would not fly halfway round Europe to sign a players contract? Even a player as important as Luka. I cannot help but think we have another Croatian on his way to the Lane. Who was the young keeper described by Bilic as the next big thing?

I thought the same thing m8. Modric signed a 5 year deal so he must still have at least 3+ years left on it so I'm sure Levy could have waited till he got back and even if he couldn't wait, I don't think he would hunt down Modric himself just to get him to sign a new contract. However we do know Levy likes to go for players himself as he did with Modric, so I also think there is another deal going on but who is it??

Modric has 4 years left of a 6 year deal. Any new contract will be about better terms, rather than because it is running short.

Maybe Levy might pop over to Bosnia while he is in the area to pick up one of their two strikers for us (Dzeko or Ibisevic)?

why would be playing a friendly in spring 2011 - unless it's straight after the season ends? and why then anyway?
