why would be playing a friendly in spring 2011 - unless it's straight after the season ends? and why then anyway?
Modric has 4 years left of a 6 year deal. Any new contract will be about better terms, rather than because it is running short.
He has probably flown out to Croatia because there are a number of issues that need addressing. Perhaps there has been growing interest in Modric, so Levy has decided to act fast and pin Modric down to a new contract before he starts to become distracted.
Considering we have 3 Croatian players, we probably have good contacts out there and may get head starts with trying to buy some players. I am also under the impression that we have a good business relationship with Zagreb considering we completed a deal for Modric where both parties were happy without the media getting a sniff until it was completed.
Zdravko Mamic, the Zargreb executive vice-president, is also still Modric's
(and Corluka and Eduardo's) agent.
And apart from the 3 mentioned by you there arent any other interesting players managed by Mamic.
And sadly if we really might be in for Mandzukic it would mean we have dropped any interest in Dzeko (if we ever had one to begin with). Mandzukic was in german newspaper the succesor of Dzeko at Wolfsburg, if Dzeko leaves Wolfsburg would have bought him.
levy not in a suit ^^

The Club is delighted to announce that Luka Modric has signed a new six-year contract which runs until 2016.
Speaking about his new contract and future ambitions, Luka said, "Tottenham Hotspur gave me my chance in the Premier League and I want to go on to achieve great success here with them. Yes, there have been enquiries from other big clubs, but I have no interest in going anywhere. Last season's Top 4 finish was an indication of where we are as a Club and I feel I can continue to improve and go on to achieve everything I want to at Spurs."
The Croatia midfielder arrived at White Hart Lane from Dinamo Zagreb in July, 2008 on the back of a starring role with his country in the European Championships and having played a big part in Dinamo's three successive league title triumphs.
The 24-year-old playmaker has gone on to establish himself as a key player in Harry Redknapp's side with impressive displays on the left flank and in central midfield, clocking up a total of 77 appearances in our colours and scoring eight times including a memorable winner against Chelsea at the Lane in March 2009.
