Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to react after Gareth Southgate announced his 27-man England squad, and there was no room for Tottenham defender Eric Dier. The BBC Match of the Day host believes the £92,000-a-week man has been harshly treated by Southgate, after his exclusion from the UEFA Nations League squad.

92000 a week man!
He ain't from the 70s 6 million dollar man Steve whats~his ~face.
He's our leader of the backline and great at it.
Southgate is a stubborn fool to include 5 RIGHT BACKS and not get ED in!

Crap article also refers to Dier as ‘the Tottenham number 4’.

Dier wears 15 and Romero is 4, blimey these people don’t do their research do they!

Thought he was really strong in the middle of the 3. Maybe Southgate doesn't want t play with 3 CBs though, in a 4 I think Dier struggles a bit.

Any more than Maguire?

I get that he wants to have a look at some new players, but Dier could have easily been in there as well.

If you are going to include Maguire and Coady then ED must be in with a shout, Southgate can't use the excuse 'we know what Eric can do'

At least Mings isn't in this time. If Southgate has any intention of playing a back 3 Dier has to be in the squad. He's a useful player for a tournament squad because he's versatile.

Good.
Good for the fans.
Good for the club.
And long term, good for Dier.

Southgate is an irresponsible idiot, who has made it clear he has no concern for player welfare, and will overplay them and play them while they are carrying pretty severe injuries if it suits him.

There is no prestige to be had here. These as not the best players in the english prem (with the exception of kane maybe), let alone the world.

It is like being called up to a championship side.
