How is that a fantasy scenario? I put forth a a very realistic scenario.

It's fantasy because it isn't real. It's a lot of 'what ifs'. There are numerous possible outcomes for the future.

Sure. But there is no denying it is a very possible final outcome to next season, and in that scenario neutrals will say we have stagnated/fallen off and Liverpool are back, simple as.

That's the nature of football though. There is always going to be an ebb and flow between the teams who are challenging at the top. There's arguably 6 or 7 teams that will be fighting for top 4 next year. We can't all get in, and it's not simply going to be down to who is better. It will be down to who has a good season.

At the beginning of the season, I would have said Liverpool were better than us, on paper, now it's swung the other way, but in reality they are probably on the same level as us, along with United, and Arsenal. Where the three of us end up is down to our form, and the form of others. United and Liverpool both had terrible seasons, but it doesn't necessarily make them bad, they can both blow teams away. Us and the goons had a good season, the harsh reality is we had a dip in form at the wrong time. I'd still back us to beat them or at least draw in a match though.
