Liverpool have rejected a transfer request from Fernando Torres after the striker was the subject of a failed bid from Chelsea.
Reigning Premier League champions Chelsea saw a £35million offer for the Spain international turned down by Liverpool, who insisted Torres was not for sale.
Sky Sports News later revealed that Torres was 'open' to the possibility of joining Chelsea and was keen for his current club to consider selling him.
The former Atletico Madrid starlet has now asked to be allowed to move to Stamford Bridge, only for his request to be turned down by Liverpool.

That will make my window, regardless of anything our lot get up to, if Torres has actually asked to be considered for release to another English club!

Of course this is quite amusing... But there's absolutely no chance of him coming to Spurs... Can't wait to see Hansen's reaction, mind you...

This is bad for us! Liverpool will get a shed load of cash to improve their average squad and Chelsea get a world class striker!

Torres could make the difference for Chelsea, who at the moment are competing with us for that 4th spot!

I thought Liverpool had a pretty enormous debt. How much of a 40 million transfer fee would be made available for players? And even if Kenny was allowed the whole lot, they've still lost a world class player and brought in a player who may well not be as effective, at least for this season. If this leads to them missing out on a European place, would they be able to attract world class talent in the Summer?

New England Sports Venture have clear all the debt from the club if I remember correctly.

If he does leave, how might Suarez respond? I would have thought that part of the attraction would have been part of rebuilding a great club and a new era of success. It would be a bit disheartening if half the top players in the team want to leave.
