As others have said, would love to know why Benji didn't even make the bench. Especially with Poch giving the team a clean bill of health.

He did well for the assist but it wasn't laid on a plate for Kane. He presses well and has good energy but I think most of these are fairly basic qualities and we could get a similar player to do the same. I don't think his interplay is particular clever, he moves from his position but most attacking midfielders do the same.

He isn't a key part of our forward play. Kane and Eriksen are.

Fair enough, I respect your opinion. I just happen to completely disagree.

Fucking hell people still find an angle to criticize Lamela.

He worked the hardest on our team today, got a lovely assist and hit the bar. Also had some great other touches and moves.

I could bash 7-8 more players before I even considered bashing Erik.

For one Kane made a hash of playing the lone striker role today, never held the ball, stuttered on a few chances and nearly blew the goal by hitting it straight at Mingolet.

I thought we put in a decent performance today and matched liverpool. For clarification, I don't think Lamela had a bad game at all. He didn't work the hardest today but he did put in a good shift and he generally does, which is one of his good points.

He did well for the assist but he didn't exactly lay it on a plate for Kane. It was the only realistic option he had at the time and Kane had to take it away from Sakho to have a shot on goal.

He didn't hit the bar, the keeper saved the shot, which was slightly to his right. It was a decent effort but nothing more than that.

Lamela isn't a bad player but he hasn't got the pace or the unpredictability (IMO) to become an excellent attacking midfielder in the premier league.

Kane got a goal and an assist today. Not bad for a lone striker.

There is some over-the-top moaning going on here.

(1) Yes Rose had a poor game. But he was dealing with Ibe and sometimes Sturridge. They both have pace and power which is hard to defend against. Rose is not the strongest defensive full-back but that's not his game; he's an attacking full-back. Pochettino decides we are better off with an attacking full-back and personally I'm grateful. We play great football when Walker and Rose bomb forward. In case you forgot Rose helped us beat Arsenal and Chelsea. Overall we are up.

(2) It was always a tough ask today after we played Arsenal 3 days ago. We tired and that was why we conceded the late goal. By contrast, Liverpool played out a dull 0-0 draw 4 days ago - they probably had more in the tank.

And finally after all that moaning about us rolling over in the bigger games and playing boring, turgid football in the early part of the season, look at us now. We are playing high tempo, aggressive and attacking football. It's great to watch and it's inspiring. Reminds me a little of the Redknapp years.

Hopefully we can get some confidence after putting up a decent performance against a team that has battered us recently. We are going in the right direction. Typical Liverpool to get the lucky win but that seems to be the way it always is. The referee was talking to their players like they were long lost friends. They are welcome to the nutter Ballotelli.

I thought in general play we were the better team tbh. Just stupid error after stupid error at the back and midfield gave them chances. For the last goal Bentaleb should just stay with lallana or if you are going to double up then one of them should put pressure on the ball. The subs killed our game as well. Encouraging and frustrating at the same time.

I ain't too unhappy.. Take it on the chin, learn something from it, have a rest while Woolwich & Pool play at the weekend.

Regroup and carry on.

Shocking substitutions, never mind the lack of options on the bench, just truly jaw-droppingly bad decisions. I'm very supportive of Poch, but he totally panicked tonight. Paulinho can come on at home, against lower table teams for 10 minutes, maybe. Not at a critical juncture in a game against a team right behind us. Then soon after Chadli, clearly lacking rhythm, goes on for the man who knows what to do to exploit space at the end of games. As for Soldado, waste of time in any case but especially for only 5 minutes. He may as well have ran onto the pitch, hit Mason and Eriksen in the head with a shovel and left them on the floor because it effectively did exactly the same thing to our team. Livid.

I think it obviously shows that (something we already knew) there isn't much beyond our first XI.

We really need a big window in the summer to move players like Paulinho and soldado on because they offer nothing, especially from the bench.

We were always going to face a battle to win today after the game against arsenal

It wasnt just the assist - Lamela was involved 3 or 4 imes in the move for the goal, constantly linking play and then playing a very clever assist.
Lamela's movement and the way he gets into space and plays 1/2 touch passing to keep the move going is very impotrtant as he moves the opposition around and creates space for the others

Or, perhaps, two pressing teams on great runs taking each other on head to head without compromising the style that had led to their recent form?

It was a fucking great end to end, high pressure high turnover attacking game of football. Nerve wracking to watch but very exciting as well as frustrating.

In fact the most annoying part was Dowd flashing yellow fucking cards wrongly and rashly as each side put in fantastic pressing tackles.

The result sucked. The game did not.
Absolutely spot on! OK we lost, but we just gave the most inform team in the league a real run for their money at their place.

I thought Poch must put a large wad on Dippers to win...when he took Mason off lost our shape & then Dembele was stunned just walking through us.And worse Eriksen.

When Paulinho shrieked outta first challenge up the field I thought here we go....! Suppose when its going against us and we dont have strong replacements on the bench for them key players its hard pill to swallow GITS MAN!

Davies from what I have seen is not as good as rose, our defending tonight wAs fucking woeful, their third goal was laughable, you could see that ibe was gonna slip it through the gap for lallana and where he then slid the ball was the only place ballotelli could score, need to work on basic positioning and decision making cos it was tripe tonight!!

But Balotelli could only get to the ball by pulling Dier back, which of course Dowd 'didn't see'.

There's a lot of wailing and gnashing tonight, of course we hate losing to Liverpool and that giant anus Rodgers, but some people are now saying best we can hope for is sixth? We're still in it. We've got a decent run in.. we're unlikely to win them all but of the teams in and around us we've only got Utd, Citeh and Southampton to play now. And what price a good result against Everton on the last day if we need one to beat out Liverpool?

Seeing how badly Rose was struggling, in restrospect maybe davies should have come in with rose pushed further up towards the end of the game. Our players were flagging and seemed content with a draw and were time wasting with 20mins left. Our subs were ineffective while theirs made a visible difference. Liverpool deserved to win......just about
