Dear All;

I know that there have been much said about the goalkeeper situation and who should be our Number 1 goalkeeper.
I won't speak here about that.
As you all know french media are very interested in Lloris situation at THFC and here is an interview Hugo Lloris gave to french Tv channel France 2.

"Stade 2" This is THE sport show that is broadcasted every sunday evening at 6 PM and this is a serious show.
This interview was given by him a few hours after the game vs Chelsea on saturday night.

It is told in the small interview that this interview took place in north London near Barnet.
(Maybe some of you know this Pub).:)

I wanna try to make you the best translation as possible of what was told between french journalist Rodolphe Godin and Hugo Lloris.
Please note that word into parentheses were added by me (in order the make it easier to understand)

Below is the link to watch it (wish it works from outside France).

http://sport.francetv.fr/stade2/?page=reportage&id_article=183473

For those interested, i made my best to get a decent translation from french to english.

Rodolphe Godin: RG (french journalist)
Hugo Lloris : HL

RG : We expect you to play this afternoon...... against Eden Hazard and Chelsea.
HG : This is always a disappointment not to be on the pitch.
Indeed, I am obviously ambitious and wants to play so ............

I respect everybody at the club and i think that people can see that everyday.
But things are clear. I didn't come here (at Tottenham) to endure this situation for a long time.

RG : After your performance in Spain with the french team, did you think that (coming back from the international break) you would start as Number 1 for the Chelsea game ?

HG : I think i didn't need to get this (good) match vs Spain to get my status and i don't make connection between the 2 ( national selection and Tottenham).
These are 2 completely different things.
There is a situation for me in the french team and my situation at Tottenham.

I have my ambition and Tottenham was an opportunity to come in the English League, in a big english Club with a nice future in front, a young team with much ambition.

RG: Do you think the manager (AVB) could be forced to make you the Number 1 ?

HG : In a team, this is always difficult , dainty (for a coach) to make special individual management.
But that's right that , I'l like to enjoy my game on the pitch and with collective celebrations.

RG: Do you start to worry about the situation ?
HG : No, I am not worried at all, but as a substitute, we feel very powerless sitting on the bench.
But yes, i want to play and i think that everybody (At Tottenham) wanted me to come in order I can play.
I need more than that (time on the pitch) and i want more........

But i think things will be made clearer in little time.

RG : Let's see now some highlights of the match ?
For the first 2 (Chelsea) goals, Friedel can't be blamed for these 2.

But on the 3rd Chelsea goal, i have the feeling that you could have gone out faster (than Friedel) to get the ball.

HG: I am not here today to compare (me and Friedel).
Each of us has his own way to be a goalkeeper and there is much respect between us.
The choices are the ones of the Manager.

And at minute 3.00 , he is asked questions about Olivier Giroud........

Once this small interview was finished , the show continued and journalists from that show speak together about what will now happen for Lloris and for his future.

Rodolphe Godin (The guy who got Lloris interviewed) said that an important "crisis " meeting ( fucking journalists ) was scheduled at THFC today (between Levy and Avb + others) to make things clearer (as Lloris told in his interview) about this goalkeeper situation.

Journalist Rodoplphe Godin even said that Levy would meet AVB and ask him to "accelerate" the transition between Brad and Hugo to have Lloris asap as our First Goalie in an "Official" Way.

he also added that this could be publicly announced (Lloris our official Number 1 ) to stop all that story that has lasted for too long already.

I would like to know if we could consider as a reliable information that
1) Levy might push AVB to get Lloris in asap

2) If that is the case, that Lloris would be "officially" our Number 1 , and that some official news of that could be published in our the official website ?

Wish this has been interesting for you all.

Personally I hope that Lloris does become our number 1 sooner rather than later, but at the same time I very much hope that neither option 1 or 2 at the end of your post become true. I really don't want Levy to start interfering with team selections, it only serves to completely undermine AVB. And to "officially" announce a goalkeeper becoming our number 1 would be farcical and idiotic. And I really can't see Levy officially announcing something with the sole purpose of getting the press of his back.

Avb has to stop fucking about now and install Lloris as no.1.....before its too late and either Lloris gets so pissed off that he loses all respect for Avb or heart and wants out....this thing is getting silly now, thanks Brad , but time to take a LONG break now or preferable just play in the Europa cup

I agree, I like AVB and respect his decisions as a coach but he needs to stop messing about and gett this guy between the sticks. I'm all for stability and loyalty but when you have a top player on the bench who is going to be a future no1 then it makes sense to play him and get him in the team ASAP.

I hope he starts against Southampton, I really do.

I think AVB sort of has been between a rock and a hard place with his goalkeeper choice.

Friedels run, experience and general stability makes it hard to drop him.

Lloris' qualities, status in France and price tag makes it hard not to play him.

With Friedel arguably showing some weaknessess in the loss against Chelsea, AVB just might have been given a green light to install Lloris as his first choice keeper, which I reckon he should be. Only crux is, as soon as Lloris makes a bad decision or fucks up, the media will be all over him critizing him for not putting Friedel on the field.

Edit:

Friedel is a good, solid keeper, but he's got some obvious issues (staying rooted, getting a bit slow in his reactions at times etc). But is he more than that? I don't think so. Lloris, however, may just be that exceptional keeper that we've been looking for, a Spring of 2010 Gomes (remember those games against Arsenal and Chelsea? Gomes was absolutely massive) who performs like a top top keeper every game.

Anyone who uses the word 'dainty' in an interview gets my vote as number 1. For that reason alone, Bras has to go.

Edit: I realise I've made a typo with Brad, but I'm also very much behind the idea that bras go too. So I left it.

Edit 2: Unless on really obese women. Then they can keep them on please.

First time I've actually honestly questioned AVB was Saturday. We're a team in transition, but for fuck sake our worldie of a goalkeeper needs to fucking play!

Sort it out AVB. You fucked up by dropping him to the bench again now prove that you've learnt from the self-defeating intransigence of your Chelsea tenure.

I think AVB will have to drop Brad. It makes little sense not playing Lloris. I think there will be politely word from 'above' in his shell-like.

It is harsh on Brad in some ways - but age is something none of us can get round.

I don't see why you need to declare anyone your number 1. Long term we know the score.

As for now, Lloris will surely come in next game, if he plays well, he'll surely stay in the team. shurely.

Really like Lloris, been totally professional throughout, could have made a meal of it all but hasn't bowed to media pressure/bollocks. He knows the score, he'll be no.1 very soon I feel

Don't agree with the person who said it was a tough choice. To me, it is the easy decision putting Lloris in.
