Lloris: It doesn’t matter who the manager is … the players have to feel the responsibility

Spurs captain Lloris was back playing his first game since February and says nothing that has happened in the past matters as they try and cling on in the top-four race.

“I have nothing to say about that, I’m only focused on the present and the future,” Lloris said when asked about Conte’s rant.
“The club took a decision, but it doesn’t matter who the manager is, all the players have to feel the responsibility when they wear the shirt.
“You have to do it first of all for yourself, then for the team, the people who work at the club, for the fans, for the club in general. But we are aware of the situation, we try our best.
“There is still nine games ahead of us. It’s going to be difficult for all teams involved and we have to finish strong. And the key is consistency.

Hope he also feels the responsibility and stops giving the team the jitters with his dodgy kicking and passing across the backline.

Maybe he should have looked at himself the past few years and worked on his own weaknesses. Yes he has saved some certain goals, but he has let in a lot more he could have done better at, and his awful distribution.

It's just words isn't it? Over and over we get the these cliches, but the same things keep happening.

If we want the best for the team, Forster should have started. No blame on Lloris for the actual goal but he was as guilty as anyone of putting us under unnecessary pressure which led to their goal. If he's going to take responsibility he'll understand if he goes on the bench next game.

What goes through the minds of Spurs defenders and Lloris that makes them think it's always great idea to pass the ball back to Lloris facing the goal with on rushing opponents looking dangerous ?

What also goes through the minds of Lloris and the Spurs defenders who think it's a great idea to play tippy toe in little triangles inside the area with oppsition attackers lurking when they've proven time and time again that they are Sunday league standard at it ?

Does Lloris encourage it ? Do the Spurs defenders encourage it ? Do the coaches encourage it ? Does the manager encourage it ?

Do they think constant practice in the middle of games on a knife edge will perfect their ability to do it well ? Where I'm standing from I've not seen a shred of evidence that they're getting any better at it, on the contrary they are consistently bad at it !

Whose dumb ass idea is it ? Is it a collective idea form them all ? How they all can't see that this is by far the worst and weakest aspect of our game I will never know ?

It's the equivalent of throwing a hungry fox into a chicken coop and thinking that's the best bet for the welfare of the chickens !

Fans defending shit footballers and blamed Mourinho - world class manager, Conte - world class manager, Lloris - world class keeper, while coddling players who cant even trap and move with the ball.

Football heritage of not giving pressure to cowards is strong in Spurs .

Lloris is like a broken record - trotting out this guff every time a manager leaves/is sacked. Or when we contrive to lose matches against clubs not fit to tie our collective bootlaces. Saying that, we've been running on noxious fumes for quite a while now as the life progressively gets sucked out of this club. We reap what we sow.

Or...
"It doesn't matter who the manager is, we'll say the same things, but repeat the same mistakes".

Actions speak louder than words no.

I'm not even sure what he means by players taking responsibility. What are they going to be doing any different from what they've always done? Does he mean, they're going to follow instructions on the pitch? Or does it mean they'll ignore instructions if it's not working? Does he mean that Son will change his position and tactics himself?

If the players did 'take responsibility' I'd like to know what actions they will do that is different from what they've been doing up until now, because otherwise, it's just more patronising noise.

I think he just means that players need to grow a pair? Once Bentancur got injured, the season was over for us, since he seemingly was the only one willing to put the whole weight of responsibility on his shoulders and carry this team. Sometimes Lloris has done that as well, but not as consistently this season as Bentancur had been doing.

He's not adverse to having a go at his team mates , really not sure why he replaced Forster on Monday , team selection is certainly not on merit at Spurs at the moment it's on reputation.

Jose made a point of saying he's not telling them to play this way, Nuno said the same, as has Conte and now Stellini. Even Kane has on more than one occasion said it's not the managers asking them to drop deeper and deeper like they do. I've been banging this drum for a long long time but it's the players not trusting the back line, so they instead gravitate towards it to help out, but what then happens is the whole team end up there and they can't get out.

Regardless what the managers say if it is happening every time then I would have thought a good coach could have changed it. We are not the only team that play across the defense City do it regularly but they are able to switch if needed with quick slick passing and then away down the pitch. I accept they have excellent quality in their back line but I would like to see our coach, whoever he may be, implement a different system.
