Well done Levy (y)

I honestly am shocked when i look at those players names and realise that's the business we've done this window.

We also signed Bale and Walker up to new contracts - which is excellent news.

Modric leaving was inevitable, so i'm not at all concerned by that.

VDV leaving was a shock and a shame, but we are strong enough without him given the quality of players we have signed.

And let's not forget that we've now sold a lot of deadwood: GdS, Corluka, Pienaar, Kranjcar & Bassong.

Yes it would have been amazing to have signed Moutinho as well, but given the fact we have made a healthy profit this window then i think we've done some excellent business.

I agree, we have done some really great business this window.

The problem is that once again we have failed to address key positions, it's like buying a bugatti veyron with a fiat punto engine. It is almost there, but not quite.

The problem is not the lack of AAA signings, its the right players in the right postions to provide adiquate cover, when players are injured or we require a change of tactics or formation within a game. We lack this right now and failed to address in the transfer window.

But the biggest problem is the fans. Most fans want us to get CL, if not, they will be calling for AVB's head for failing, without realising that he is doing wonders with a completely unbalanced squad, both on the pitch and in depth. This is were the problem lies, with us fans who are not going to give AVB a chance as they all want instant success (as we have seen already after two games), which ultimately requires a balanced squad, without which we have very little chance of getting a CL place.

I am not going to call for AVB's head, as the we have already made it really bloody hard by failing to address some key areas (yet again) in teh transfer window, despite getting some really great players.

Totaly agree, I'm feeling very positive about the new look of the team. Hopefully they won't take long to settle, one thing they all have in common is a fantastic work ethic which should mean less goals conceded.

i think thats harsh on the squad we have actually, if spurs in general played with a bit more attitude and bollocks most of the adverse results wouldnt go against us. Ball retention has been a nightmare in the last few seasons.

I believe that Moutinho was the key to it all and with him we might have pushed the top 3. I honestly think that we will struggle somewhat this season with the lack of creativity noone to "control" the team on the middle.

That said and even though I think the window was "only" semi successfull I still think we brought in some great players and totally agree with you b_s on this. We will most likely be competing against Arsenal, Everton, Newcastle and Liverpool for that 4th spot and even though I feel our first 11 is not superior nor worse then any of their first 11 we have a better squad. Arseanal's squad will be the closest one but the 3 others have very thin squads and not alot of quality away from the first 11.

Reading all the fucking crap on the transfer post last night when most of us figured that Moutinho was not comming made me ashame to call myself a spurs fan. The way you guys (and we all know who you are) embarresed yourself was a disgrace. Raving on about how shit Dempsey is because we didnt get Moutinho? Raving on about we are now going from top 4 to midtable. Not even going to start on all the Levy bashers. I hope A&C bans you all to hell and I never ever see a post with your name ever again on this site. Hell, you can run along to RAWK cause they actually do have a reason to be furious with the window.

Some of you really need to understand that we are actually on a budget and cannot splash out £25 mill here and £30 mill here like some clubs do. Compare our squad and this years window to other similar clubs around with the same type of budget we have. I'd say most of them envy us alot and would welcome a guy like Levy to their club.

Great signings - well done Levy and Co. I'm sure more will follow over the coming windows.

On a sad note - I have to say though I despair at some of the idiots that "follow" our great club. The last few week have reaffirmed my belief of lack of little or no conmen sense by a vast majority of the great football supporting public.

Mouts would have been the icing on the cake of a very good window. Gutted about VDV but nice to see a football player putting family first for a change. Lets get 3 points today and get this season properly kicked off.

Moutinho would have been nice, yes. £22m + wages for me was OTT for untried midfield player new to this league. Also too many if, buts and maybies about the lad for that price tag. But I love a new signing and it would been 'interesting' to see him at Spurs. £22m+ wages interesting, I'm not so sure.

I'm not so sure about this.

Key positions for me this window were:

CM to replace Modric - Dembele done.
CB to replace King - Vertonghen done.
Attacking player to replace VDV - Sigurdsson & Dempsey done.
Striker - Adebayor done.

We probably needed a back-up striker, which we just about have with Defoe and Dempsey - but this was not a key position IMO.

We also probably needed back-up for the wings, but again not what i would call a key position.

We also needed a more athletic GK and although perhaps not a key position, we've signed one of the best keepers in the world.

The signings we've made are excellent, and at very good value as well. I don't think there's any issue with that at all.

The issue is where the gaps are in the squad.

The gaps for me are:

Striker back-up - we need a replacement for Ade, Defoe cannot play that same role and unsure whether Dempsey can either.

Left wing cover - no real cover on the left side for Bale, Lennon has cover from Dempsey and Sigurdsson though.

Left back cover - Not sure loaning out Rose was a great move, yes Verts can play there and so can Naughton, but i think Rose would have been the better option if Ekotto gets injured.

So basically if Bale, Adebayor and Ekotto can stay injury free this season we'll be ok, in fact if they can stay injury free to Jan and then hopefully we can bring in cover in some or all of those positions.

Yes those are three of the gaps but the other glaring gap is a midfielder who can link defence with attack. Now hopefully Dembele can fulfill that role but we will have to wait and see. Even if he can do that job, then again there's no real cover for him.

I think our first 11 looks very solid. Our squad not so much.
