I completely understand the overall (and normal) frustration around this time of year but take a step back here. We need HG signings to be flexible in future windows. There's also been soft links to Ange wanting another LB.

This could be an avenue to get a younger HG player in that can cover/challenge van de Ven at LCB and Udogie/Davies at LB. Davies is likely gone after this season, and it gives the flexibility to have Kelly at either LCB or LB if we see another opportunity to sign at either role.

In addition, Sanchez would be the third choice that is likely to stay around this season, but leaves next Summer. Where we would target a third choice CB at that time.

IF we see Sanchez, Dier and Tanganga leave, this seems like a sensible signing, as long as we sign a right sided centre back too.

Left footed, homegrown, quick, young, can play left back too - he ticks a lot of boxes. Is he good enough? I don’t know, but IF Ange wants him and is seen as a really good up and coming talent, then what’s not to like about this one?

The way I see it is he’s better than Davies and I’d rather see him covering LB than him every day of the week. People need to learn to actually watch players rather than snigger because they play for a certain club. So many people on here overrate our average players in comparison to so many PL players

It would be someone completely out of left field that we've been most likely scouting, but haven't held enough of an interest for reporters/itk to know the name.

Because no one knows this player, and it's not a 'big name' player everyone wants, people go apeshit, and that player has to perform or it turns into a "not good enough"/"another deadwood signing"/"going to have to replace in a window".

Data-driven works if your fanbase can accept that route. Ours clearly cannot.

I follow this person closely, they're very knowledgeable and clearly have a great eye for the game. They have been on the money so often that it is encouraging to see the post re Kelly. We followed him closely at Bristol City but haven't heard anything about him since.

So yeah I'm not sure I accept that I'm chatting complete nonsense, it's Barnett agency and the point was, it's a organisation we've done a significant amount of business with. So I stand by it being a fair variable that may mean it's not a data driven deal.

Because if we're operating under this model, you probably have a list of 10-15 players that you'd be willing to go for if one doesn't work out. Can't get the first choice? Cross it off and move to the next.

Clear backup with another HG tick and i'm not saying I'm loving this move or prohibits acquiring better talent elsewhere but he does serve a purpose.
