Clearly it's not happening this way, but are Tosin or Kelly really that much better than Tanganga? Tanganga is home grown, a decent 1 on 1 defender. Would I'm sure be happy as a squad option, not cost £20m, etc.

This season particularly, clearly Cuti and VDV are gonna play most games, and the issues come with injuries/suspensions, but tlikelihood is that whoever is back up will play with one of Cuti or VDV, and I'm sure will look fine. Am I crazy?
The big problem with Tanganga is he hasn't played football for about 3 years and even then nothing at CB as far as I can remember.

He's also gets injured a lot. He needs to go and actually play football.

I think both are better than Tanganga yes, much.

Not sold on Kelly. As a left back converted to CB, I think he would only play on the left. I’d prefer someone capable of playing right or left centre back, Adarabioyo or Schurrs look better suited. Someone capable of playing either side CB doubles the amount minutes available. Someone strictly one sided is dependant on their main rival. All the clips I’ve seen, VdV only played left, so not like he’s going to move over if Romero is out. Schurrs and Adarabioyo are seen playing left or right. Going for Kelly suggests we are keeping one of Sanchez or Dier to be the RCB understudy. I’d prefer 3 options for two positions, one right, one left, one comfortable both, and then opportunities for Phillips/Dorrington to progress as cover.

I know we looked at Kelly while he was at Bristol, but I don’t see how a very left sided CB/LB helps our current CB situation. That is, of course, if Dav is seen to be staying. I’d have thought still, that Tosin would be the better deal for us, and possibly cheaper?

Tottenham have also had a £20million offer for Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly rejected.

The 24-year-old is out of contract next summer and is likely to see out his deal ahead of exploring options abroad.

£20M for Lloyd Kelly?! When he can go on a free next summer? World's gone mad

I think he’d be a great recruit. Churn the squad and left sided centre halves are not easy to come by, let alone homegrown ones. Him and Ashley Phillips would be good understudies to our main centre backs.

Out of contract next summer you say.
CAA representation also.
Oh, it’s starting to make much more sense now.

If he comes in, he offers pace like Udogie, and LCB cover, it could spell the end of Davies in the Jan window.

Ah, one year left on his contract. There it is. I’d wondered why this came out of nowhere in the last knockings of the window.

I mean yeah, his profile looks similar to Van de Ven, we need homegrown and left-footed cbs are rare.
1 year concract and agency with good terms(not even CAA Base but Stellar) makes much more sense as this deal won't be completely overpriced

Surely we can loan Dier to Bournemouth here. He still gets to play EPL and he still gets his free transfer next summer.

He's a good player with the type of backstory that makes you root for him. I reckon Ange could make him even better.

Yea good profile and another young HG, like it. It’s how we used to recruit 👌 when we used to go for likes of Dawson, Walker, Lennon, Defoe, Carrick, Robinson, Bale etc

Make no mistake, Kelly is a good player. Young, English, quick and a solid defender. He's a better option than Tanganga, Dier and Sanchez.
