Personally I think he will need another loan to tougher league first. Would be very handy if he could eventually be Maddison’s understudy/rotation option
He'll be 20 next season. Why not give him games if he's ready? The big question is, of course, "if" he's ready. But age shouldn't be a barrier imo. As we are seeing with Sarr

I don't feel like age will be a barrier. It's going to be whether he's ready or not, which Ange will be able to see from his performances on loan and how he copes in pre-season.

It may have been the French league, but Sarr has had more senior experience both at club and international level than Devine. It's no wonder Sarr was considered ready.

Seem strange he hasn’t had the chance at 20. Must not be that highly rated

Isn’t that two steps up? I thought he got called up for the u20s?
England U20 are also training at St. George's Park this week. The senior team could be short a player or two (Grealish and Trent sent home) or they could be just giving him a bit experience with the team. Theres two or three other U20 players training with them too.

Started for Port Vale tonight in the CC. Don’t have a stream so can’t watch but the BBC text mentioned him having a missed shot attempt in the 22nd minute.

Devine the top rated player on FotMob.

Ferguson told Beckham when he went on loan that he had to be the best player week in week out if he wanted to make it at the top level. Devine is doing this so far. Very encouraging.

A quick look on Port Vales match forum. A few disgruntled fans

Devine starts again tonight.

@Rob can you move this to the loan thread please, it’s easier to keep an eye on it there?

Getting pelters left right and centre on the Vale forum.
Reckon he's a big time Charlie, not tracking men, only had one decent game since he's been there.
One comment which stood out was he won't make it at Spurs.
Someone replied he won't make it at Vale.
General concensus was that he needs dropping but they're surmising he has a clause in his contract because he hasn't been good enough to warrant a start.

2 things worth considering.
1. Vale play Massey up front who has scored something like 4 goals in 180 games. I doubt he's great at dealing with quality balls in.
2. It's a taste of men's football. Let's hope he's stronger from the experience. He might turn things around
