You think that's bad, someone at the club is actually having to tell some of those players that they're surplus to requirements.

I wouldn't have the heart to tell Dawson, it would be like having to kill a beloved pet because he sometimes craps on your bed

Friedel (love him but serves no useful purpose as a GK anymore imo), BAE, Carroll, Mason, Dawson.

Dunno how many of those in either your list or mine wouldn't need to be named in the squad with the U21 rules - plus I'd be losing a fair few HG players but we'd still have 8 (I think)

Dawson-
Love his loyalty and dedication, but time to go.

*I'd also sell Sandro if it meant being able to bring in MS. Sad, but the guy just isn't the same and would flog whilst value is still meaty.

BAE - Simple, really.
Lennon - I won't believe he's a changed footballer after a strong preseason.
Dawson - I think we will add another CB before the window is over and he's the one I'd sell first.
Dembele - I just don't think he offers enough anymore.
Carroll/Fryers - Loan them both out if possible.

Actually, if MP wants a squad of 25, the game is a little more complicated, as it is 5 out, then 1 out for every 1 in.

So, if we are talking about a CB, CM, and striker/LW (Leaving alone Yedlin for the moment) - it really means cutting 8 players from above.

• Benoit Assou-Ekotto: Think his Spurs days are over. He began to improve under Harry, but when he left I think Benny dropped down the pecking order. If Poch can get Danny Rose to Sunderland's version of Danny Rose, and with Davies, I just can't see Benny getting a look.
• Dawson: Not as bad as people make him out to be on here, but if you play a ball behind him he is absolutely done. If we get Musacchio and Vertonghen starts well there is no need for Dawson. Kaboul can cover for Europa and Chiriches has huge potential. Dawson will always be welcome at the lane.
• Carrol: I'm not sure if in this game with have to sell permanently, but a loan move to a premier league club would suffice for me with Tom. Get him game time and then perhaps see how he performed. Could go the way Livermore did and bank us a good £7-10 million.
• Sandro: The hardest choice for me, and this is only if Schneiderlin comes in. Sandro doesn't have the passing ability to play poch's game, and I think playing him could really disrupt our balance if we play that high pressing style. Capoue could do a far better job with this philosophy and should be given the green light to start. I love sandro, but leaving us will be better for him, and his international career in my opinion.
• Chadli: If Chadli leaving meant we could get Depay, I think it would be a must. Lennon is perhaps the more deserved to get shipped off, but we need him for the home grown quota for the league and Europe. That only really leaves Chadli who I think could be a decent winger, (perhaps even a striker), but it makes more sense to sell him compared to the rest

Then in an ideal world we would proceed to bring in Musacchio, Depay, Schneiderlin and Yedlin. We'd undoubtedly be stronger in my opinion. I admit though that Depay is aspirational.
