Louis Saha is hoping Laurent Blanc stays as France coach beyond Euro 2012 despite being strongly linked with the vacant position at Tottenham.

Former Manchester United defender and Bordeaux boss Blanc is thought to be one of the leading contenders for the White Hart Lane job along with Andre Villas-Boas.

But former Spurs striker Saha is keen for Blanc to remain in charge of Les Bleus beyond the European Championship.

"He's a top manager," Saha told TalkSport.

"He'll always have interest. I can imagine him being in the Premier League because of his experience.

"I want him to stay in the job for France because he has been doing a terrific job so I wouldn't like him to go to the Premier League yet."

Blanc has transformed France's fortunes after taking charge of his national team following their disastrous 2010 World Cup campaign.

France were unbeaten in 23 matches before their defeat to Sweden last night but they have qualified for a quarter-final against Spain.

Saha believes Blanc has the tactical nous to combat the world and European champions.

"It was quite an achievement to qualify for a big game against Spain. It feels like a great achievement," Saha said.

"Technically and tactically we have to be in top form and the manager has to have a big role in that.

"Physically you can be closer to the Spanish players. You have to find the right formation and I believe Laurent Blanc will definitely change his formation.

"The expectation was to play a better style of football after the World Cup in 2010."

I still think he would be an excellent candidate, but I don't necessarily agree that he "has changed France's fortunes". Yes I realise that they went 23 games unbeaten, but IMO they have been a bit underwhelming so far in the Euros. Of course I'm not about to start judging a manager by the teams performances in the competition so far.

They came second to England in their group, so I think the jury is still out on him.

Well next season I want to see Louis Saha managed by Steve Bruce at Chitsville or wherever.

I thought Saha had already been released? If so, the title is a bit out of date.

Saha actually couldn't give two shits about us so it's hardly a shock. Oh and I wouldn't really judge any coach on the back of a Euro Championship, certainly how it relates to day to day club management.

er
Is Saha even in the French squad?!
He's not good enough for either squad and his opinion is therefore irrelevent.
I dont know why the media pick up on theses nonentities just to get a sound bite,to promote their own brand of propagannder

He doesn't even mention Spurs:
"I want him to stay in the job for France because he has been doing a terrific job so I wouldn't like him to go to the Premier League yet."
And he's not even a Spurs player any more.
They've presented this in a way to provoke interest in what is, essentially, an utterly mundane and uninteresting response to a question.
Fair play, though - it works every time.

Don't let facts, the blatant truth and hard evidence to cloud your judgement here. Blankety Blank is 100% nailed-on coz a man wrote words on the internets.
