United could be waiting to see if Real Madrid lose the CL final and Ancelotti becomes available, LVG is their back-up plan, Levy wants LVG so can't afford to appoint some plum (in comparison) only for it then to transpire that he could have got LVG.

Didn't LVG tell reporters to ask Man Utd about his contract and not him?

I'm not sure I can see past him being appointed now. I think Levy sees Pochettino as ideal given his Prem experience thus far, brand of football played and of course his blooding of youngsters at So'ton.

I always saw each potential manager described by one word:
LVG = majestic
FdB = romantic
Pochettino = realistic
Benitez = safe

Ryan Giggs will meet with Louis Van Gaal in the Netherlands on Wednesday as Manchester United move towards finalising their new management team.

Dutch national coach Van Gaal, 62, is set to be appointed as United boss and will speak to Giggs about a potential coaching position at Old Trafford.
