Am I missing something here?

This is my second season as a Season Ticket Holder and I am currently the proud owner of....about 60 loyalty points. Prior to having a season ticket I attended most our home games as a member and at the point that I got my season ticket, I had about 200 points.

When I look at my account I can see that I get a small amount of points for taking a season ticket (about 20 or so, I can't recall right now), but none per game. As a member I'd get 20 just for attending 4 of our lower rated games!

Obviously away allocation is relatively low and as such I need a lot of loyalty points for the big games. I just don't quite get how as a member I would have had a lot more points than I currently do when I spend almost £800 a year for my season ticket!

Am I missing something?

I was having this conversation earlier with the guy I sit next too. To me it seems really stupid and unfair that the club takes away all your loyalty points when you move from one membership scheme to another.

Well considering season-ticket holders get considered before members it doesn't really matter, Kaye. It makes complete sense that the best way to compare season-ticket holders is to start them all off at scratch and then work their way up, no?

It's not like you as a season ticket holder with 20 points are competing with a member with 400 points. If you and that member both apply for an away match/whatever, then you will always get it.

Yes. You missed the "here" on the last line.

A-ha, that answers my question Stoof. So they wouldn't for example release 500 to ST holders, then the rest to members if you know what I mean?
Ah actually I know the answer to that! Thanks ;-)

How does the loyalty points scoring work?

Looking at my history, i've got 5 points each for Wigan and Wolves, but only 1 point each for the CL games and Everton & Liverpool?

Category A matches give you 1 loyalty point.
Category B matches give you 3 loyalty points.
Category C matches give you 5 loyalty points.

Category A | Arsenal (20% VAT), Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, West Ham United (20% VAT)
Category B | Bolton Wanderers, Newcastle United, Everton, Fulham, Sunderland, Blackburn Rovers, Aston Villa
Category C | Birmingham City (20% VAT), WBA (20% VAT), Blackpool (20% VAT), Stoke City (20% VAT), Wigan Athletic, Wolves

Yep. a season ticket holder newbie with 1 loyalty points ranks higher in priority for all match ticket priority (that they aren't already entitled to, such as away games and cup etc) than a member for 200 years with a billion loyalty points.

Kaye, I'm a second seasoner like you. As someone already pointed out we get a lot of advantages just from being ST holders. This season we seem to get first refusal on our seats for cup games which I don't remember getting last season, so we have a great chance to see every game at the lane if we choose.

ST holders don't earn points for home league games so it's a bit unfair if you've been a ST for 10years, that someone who has been too the same number of home league games (but as a member) ends up with more loyalty points than you. When you get a ST they take the points you earnt from home league games away to give you parity with older ST holders. You still get to keep points from away games and cup games.

I went to a lot of cup games before I got my ST so I've got a decent total

My biggest annoyance is that I'm a season ticket holder with 100 points, yet some numpty lilywhite member got to go to Milan on the Thomas Cook thing, yet I with my normally applied for ticket, couldn't.

Why didn't you apply for the Thomas Cook thing?

All correct apart from the first refusal thing. I've been an ST holder since the 97/98 season, and shared with my uncle for 5/6 years before that anyway, and I never remember a time when we didn't have priority over our seats for any home cup game if we wanted them.

My biggest annoyance is that I'm a season ticket holder with 100 points, yet some numpty lilywhite member got to go to Milan on the Thomas Cook thing, yet I with my normally applied for ticket, couldn't.

I wish I'd gone to Milan with Thomas Cook too, it would have been cheaper and easier, and I only just scraped through with my 416 points or whatever it was that I had at the time of applying. However, considering you get 30 points or something automatically each summer just by renewing your ST, I'd wager that you haven't been to that many non home league games, if any, to only have a hundred points, whereas a mere lilywhite member would have had to go to a hell of a lot of games just to reach the Thomas Cook lower threshold, so they'd probably be quite deserving.

That said, I think you're mistaken. I don't think any bronze or lilywhite member got any priority, regardless of points, over any Silver, Gold or Platinum member, unless you actually know of an indicvidual case where this has happened because they applied for the Thomas Cook option?

I'm pretty sure Bronze/Lilywhite members couldn't apply for a ticket through Tommy Cook. ON ST's could. But there was no Loyalty Point cut off, any St that applied, managed to get a ticket through TC.

I could be wrong though, which would mean I could've gone but didn't bother applying as I'm a bronze member.........that winds me up a bit!!

I'm kind of the in the same boat. I got a season ticket half way through the Ramos/Redknapp season and my circa 250 points got reset and the points you get for renewing are negligible. I've missed out on a fair few away games since-Fulham springs to mind in the cup, though that was best missed in hindsight and from the warmth of the pub.

It kind of becomes a vicious circle because if you don't have the loyalty points for some away games you don't go. But the underlying point is that I think the points shouldn't get reset and season ticket holders should get greater points injection when they renew. I won't be going away this season mind, being in my 6th year as a tax and soap dodger, but I would defo go to one of the glamour cities were we to progress, and maybe Munich.

A few of my mates went on the Thomas Cook thing who are only members. I didn't book through that cos I'm a numpty, is the only answer. I thought it'd be cheaper to get my ticket through the club the usual way...

Lesson learnt

With regards my points, I've only been a season ticket holder for 2 years. Been to Bolton, and Liverpool away, both last season

If you upgrade from Lilywhite member to Bronze member do you get to keep your loyalty points?

this. you are not measured against non season ticket holders. you always have priority over them regardless of LP tallies
