Don't have the link to the original article cited, but way too random to be nothing, surely.

"Luan Garcia Teixeira is one of the most interesting young defenders Brazilian football. From the class of 93, he is a product of the youth sector of Vasco da Gama, where he grew up in football since his youth days. He is a physically strong central defender, yet fast enough, has good positional sense and good anticipation. Luan is right footed and has very good technical skills, he is dangerous at dead-ball situations, both in the air and with excellent acrobatic skills.

"He has played at U-20 national level and is one of the defenders on which the technical Doriva (a former player with Sampdoria) relies on for Vasco da Gama. His contract expires in 2017 and he still has an affordable market valuation. He is a bargain for a team in a position to launch and develop players like Udinese, especially because Luan has quality and perspective to become a major player in a few years "-

What's with all these CBs? We've already got Vertonghen, Wimmer, Dier, and Fazio with Veljkovic, CCV, and Maghoma coming up.

Must say he looks like a fucking awesome prospect from his video.
in general mate, I think it's wise to be fairly sceptical about YouTube videos, but in this case..

BUY HIM NOW, OH MY WORD WHAT A PLAYER!

Seriously though, the more we look at all these ball playing cbs, the more I'd like to play with five at the back. Luan looks quality:

Yedlin Luan Dier Verts Rose

He can play right back as well, which is a bonus as we need more right backs! (y)

I'd love to try 3-5-2 lol as allows us to play a strike partnership and also midfield won't get overcrowded.

With everyone playing 1 up top also 3 centre backs should be fine.

We also have some very attack-minded full backs in Walker, Yedlin, Rose and possibly Trippier.

I totally agree. Our full backs are all made for playing as wing backs and I often wish we had two up front to cross the ball in to. Ings and Kane would make a great partnership IMO with all the creativity coming from the three in the middle.. Three in midfield would be better too, one who sits deeper and covers full backs caught upfield with two in front of him to carry the ball or release the forwards...

But as we both know, it will be 4231 no matter who we buy.. So annoying.

I remember Breno and Doria were destined for world stardom not long ago.

Last time Spurs played 3-5-2 it was a grand success...oh wait a moment...
As ManU fans what they think of van Gaal's 3-5-2 system....oh, better just ask van Gaal himself,as he quickly found out what an bad idea it was...

He looks good on youtube no doubt but so did another ball playing CB, Chiriches. Brazil have plenty of 1-season wonders so I have started to develop a natural scepticism to Brazilian "wonder kids". Doria and Breno springs to mind. And I remeber Brazilian U-21 defender, Bruno Uvini's loan spell. Well, I mean I don't remember much of him but that he was at Spurs on loan.
However, should Mitchell find him worthy of a bid, well, I would like to trust his judgement :)

Omit Doria and Breno (it was meant for another post).
As for 3-5-2....even Hod admitted it was a mistake to use that formation. Harry Redknapp abolished it soon when he tried it last season and van Gaal did the same after a terrible start to the season. In other words, 3-5-2 in the EPL is not an good idea.

Utd were pants with 3-5-2 because they played untested players like Blackett and McNair centre back with wingers (Young and Valencia) as wing backs who can't defend. They also played Rooney and Di Maria in central midfield with no DM.

Liverpool went on a very hot run of form this year when playing three at the back. Like most formations, it can be effective with the right personnel.
