Is Moura actually any good?

I had a vague impression of him being a bit crap from watching a couple of games and have since gone and looked at his highlights vids and have seen nothing to alter my opinion. Surely we already have players who can dive, shoot off target and fluff the final pass after a promising run :cautious:.

If we get him I’ll back him and hope he’s a hit, but he reminds me of Townsend in so many ways.

I'm prepared to be educated by people who have watched him a lot but even Nkoudo, N'Jie and Sissoko have better highlights vids than Moura. You have to wonder that if this is the best they can find what the hell are they leaving out?

Moura can be frustrating to watch sometimes but also brilliant. Someone mentioned Townsend, Moura has one hundred million times the football brain.

Somehow I get a feeling we are monitoring Moura if a bargain would materialize. BUT all the media about it makes me think that either its Mouras agent trying to get him publicity or it is us wanting everyone to think we are going for Moura while working in something completely different.

Didn’t Herc suggest that PSG are looking for a lot more then 30 mil quoted by the press? If that’s the case I would much rather we go for Carrasco who is also supposedly available. I realise PSG want to raise funds and get rid of the dead weight but I still can’t see them bending to our desire of a loan with an option to buy rather then a compulsory one.

Without drifting too much, I'd absolutely love Carassco. Every time I've seen him I've been impressed. Another Belgian is always welcome too

My worry is that if he's in Simone's bad books he may not be seen as trustworthy player for Poch.

He said something along the lines of "ridiculous fee"

The problem is our transfer/wages strategy is getting harder and harder to implement as each window goes by.

It was hard enough anyway attempting to operate in a completely different way to everyone else. Now the market has taken on even more of a crazy turn. We’re even being priced out of Championship players.

It will get to the stage we’ll have to only buy players from Ajax or go shopping in League 1 or below :D.

Why?

Not that this is the Carrasco thread but I'm intrigued to see what you're gonna say.
Because we won’t be able to afford the deal and he would have loads of better offers. What kind of fee is he gonna command? £70m? £80m? Wages? Even just from the Premier League, you think with City, United, Chelsea, Liverpool, hell even Arsenal, that none of them won’t offer him a better financial package? Never mind all the big European clubs with much more spending power.

Same kind of reason we won’t be signing the likes of Asensio or Coman etc. It’s unrealistic.

But would most of these clubs even want/need him. I think you can rule out United and City immediately and he's not gunna play second fiddle at Liverpool when they already have two speedsters/wide men. I can't even see Arsenal wanting him as they now have Mkhitaryan, Lacazette and possible Auba. They can certainly beat us on finances, for sure, but maybe we can offer him assurances and the Belgian boys are here. Not saying it would happen but I don't think we should rule ourselves out so easily.

Shame then that we only seem to be making minimal effort to integrate our own academy players

I don’t want to keep going on about Carrasco in this thread, not least because it’s never going to happen, but do you honestly see us signing a player for £70m, £80m, £90m on wages that would no doubt be in line with the fee. You’d probably be looking at between £150k and £250k a week. Come on, that alone is completely unrealistic. That’s before you even factor in all the bigger and richer clubs that are also no doubt gonna be all over him. In a world where Van Dijk is going for £75m, we are not getting Yannick Carrasco. Chelsea F.C. alone means we are not signing Carrasco. The chance of us signing him was when Atlético did.

So? You think United are going to sign another player in a similar position to one they've just bought on massive ages? You think city will come in for ANOTHER attacking player?

PSG really need to shift some players to keep within FFP . Neymar and the upcoming Mbappe transfer have caused this. There might be a bargain right at the end of this window or the next

City were after Sanchez. So, I'd say yes.
