It's amazing how many shit players we have but are still the toast of Europe and a hair away from top four. Fuck, Harry must be the greatest tactician ever to get us this far with a bunch of players that Blackpool wouldn't waste their time on.

No you dont. You think hes shit. You think he cant pass, cant score, cant tackle, cant shoot etc. I cant bother to find your posts and point out what else you think he cant.

And its okay, its your opinion. What pisses me off is that you have to ruin every thread involving modric. I mean we get it, you hate him and its your right, just dont bother us anymore with it.

I ruin the thread? People were goading me before I said a word. I am responding.

And BTW that is you putting words into my mouth.

Why do I make threads like these:

http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=67416

I belive Modders isn't being used correctly by HR. I believe it will be a case of floodgates once Modders is played in a more advanced role. Harry and Ramos made a mistake moving him around so often. Settle him as an AM and trust me, you will see a happier Modric. He's been in the press twice this year complaining he could have broken his leg.

You can't tell me he is enjoying his Prem football in his current position?

I don't want modders trying to jump for balls with the Cattermoles of the world. He's not built for that. He needs to make us tick upfront. Not letting the Fabregases of the world flit past him like he''s not even there in a sad withdrawn possession monkey role.

Modric broke his leg the season we won a CL place. He was out for almost half a season.

Kranj came in and got in the opta team of the year as his replacement.

I'm not saying Kranj is a better player, I just think it proves what a confident player can do.

I also said we would make top 5 before we kicked a ball last season.

He's not making us tick in an attacking sense.

He tends to go for the safer sideways/backwards pass. And when he does get into the final third, he tends to waste a shot (blast wide) or fall over. He bottles it when he gets to the danger zone. And that for me that strips him of his world class status because he lacks composure.

What he is world class at two things: Passing and riding tackles in his own half. And usually at home. As soon as he gets near the ops penalty area he either snaps at a shot or misses a killer through ball. He has a comfort zone: Nicey nicey tappy tappy. Take him out of that (kick him, put pressure on him, expect him to take a penalty etc) and he tends to fold.

You're a twit. All you do is contradict yourself.. all day long.

You did it again: Can;t you see where I explain myself?:

That is your problem. You ignore my COMPLEX opinion and make up your own.

Case in point:

You are the troll. Not me. Just more cross thread butthurt.

why every discussion has to turn like this. every time same story, neither side cant prove anything to other, just quit it ffs it looks like we are all 15y old discussing same thing every time Modrić is mentioned in every god damn thread. you know nobody could change gibbs and borisTM oppinions, same like they cant change oppinion of rest of community, so why even bother going every time completely Offtopic. This thread is not about Modrić's football skills, its about Mamić's imagined story...

LOL at Gibbsy.

I'm interested on your opinion on Xavi.

Xavi? Who last season in the Spanish league had 14 assists? 19 in all comps? One year. 19 assists. It does confuse me why people always mention Xavi in ref to Modric.

Last season Xavi got twice as many assists than Modders got in 2 and a half seasons at Spurs as our main playmaker.

So to get those types of stats, on average Modric will have to play 5 seasons.

5 Modric seasons, to get Xavis stats in one season. Why is it England can set up hat tricks for Defoe and Crouch but Modric can't set up a single assist for Bale, VDV, Lennon, Crouch, Pav, Defoe and Keane this season in the prem?

Modric this season in the league has had 20 shots on goal. 1 goal to show for it.

Xavi has had 15 shots on goal. 3 goals to show for it.

These are individual awards Xavi has won since Modric joined Spurs:

UEFA Champions League Final Man of the Match: 1
2009
UEFA Euro Player of the Tournament: 1
2008
FIFPro World XI: 2
2008, 2009
World's Best Playmaker: 2
2008, 2009
UEFA Team of the Year: 2
2008, 2009
FIFA Team of the Year: 1
2008
UEFA Champions League Midfielder of the Year: 1
2008–09
La Liga Midfielder of the Year: 1
2009
FIFA Club World Cup Bronze Ball: 1
2009
FIFA World Cup All-Star Team: 1
2010
Prince of Asturias Awards: 1
2010
World Soccer Player of the Year: 1
2010
Premi Catalunya de l’Esport: 1
2010

Modric to my knowledge hasn't even had a MOTM award, let alone touch the magic that Xavi has during his career. Slap on top of that almost 20 trophies and you get the picture.

Do you know whos creative stats are similar to Modrics if you take into account 90 mins played?

Steed Malbranque. Another tidy little player who I rated .

I don't think many will agree he is better than VDV, Bale, King etc. Like I said, leg break last year, and Kranj easily filled his boots and got more goals and assists in a short period of time than Modric did in his season.

Gibbs, do me a favour and take whatever it is to one of your other Modric threads, there are enough of them after all. This one is for opinion regarding his (possible) transfer.

If we sell luka I'll have to stop watching football for a while as it will destroy my belief in us moving forward

This is a tough one. Luka is a giant on the pitch, he is always available for a pass, never shirks responsability and gives as good as he gets with the physical demands of the Prem.

But, like it or not, we are a business. I'd hate to see Luka leave but if we can see a bid of 35M plus coming in for him then I would be a reluctant seller. We need to invest in our stikers more than we do in our midfield. With the new stadium costs, how do you propose spending 30M on Llorente or a similiar striker while trying to build the infrastrucure of a top european team. We simply can't. Unless the Qatari royal's want to buy us instead of Utd.

I understand we want to keep Luka but we also need to bring in a top striker. In my opinion, a striker hitting the net 20 plus times a season consistantly is of better value to us than the little maestro in the middle.

From wikipedia, re Rakitic's playing style.

Rakitić is commonly deployed for his very mature and strong playing style. While playing in the Bundesliga with Schalke, he is mainly used as a held back playmaker and is capable of creating attacks and also holding the ball well to keep possession. He is, to a much lesser extent, also known for contributing to defense which is only seen when his club would play a defensive game. He often is chosen to take set pieces for both Schalke and Croatia.
While playing at international level, Rakitić has also been referred to as a striker as used a few times in a more forward position by current coach Slaven Bilić. However, his midfield ability is also used to great effect combined with Croatia's touch and move football which sees many passing along the pitch and also gives him the ability to make many runs on the left flank to create attacks.[16] He has shown a great knowledge of offense in many games, and his delivery and unexpected shot accuracy are also among his strengths

Sounds a lot like Luka with a better shot. I don't want Luka to leave but 35M for him and this guy on a bosman is sound business and the sort that, imo would be right up Levy's street.

And Gibbs131 does it again, trolling and wum'ing his way to yet another thread hijacking - give it a fucking break or you'll get another one locked.

Luka seems happy and has years left on his contract, even for 40m I doubt he'd be allowed to leave.

Is Gibbsy right that Modric only has 1 goal and no assists this season? I am a fan of the guy but if thats true that is very poor. Considering he is primarily an attacking player that is shocking

Trouble is you can NEVER say NEVER in this game of football.

Agree. I'm in the school of thought that says everyone has their price. Hopefully if Spurs scouts are doing their jobs we should be able to pick up a replacement on the cheap and bank the difference between that and what Chelsea pay us.

Well in the league he scored vs WBA and got an assist vs Liverpool (it may not be official but its an assist in my mind).
