Am really hoping that with Europa, the new U21 league and NextGen we put some serious thought into which youngsters to loan and who to keep.

Europa B list eligible are (I think): Archer, Miles, Barcham, Smith, Byrne, Caulker, Stewart, Nicholson, Carroll, Parrett, Munns, Bostock, Pritchard, Fredericks, Townsend, Kane, Lancaster and Obika. The likes of Button, Rose, Falque, Ceballos, Luongo and Gallifuoco would require spots in the A list.

Eligible for the three Next Gen overage spots are (I think): Barcham, Stewart, Gallifuoco, Luongo, Munns, Pritchard and Kane.

Button, Rose and Falque would be overage for the U21 league. Not sure how many overage player they are allowing.

Agreed with this. Still no official news on the under 21 league - initial reports were for 2013/14, then there were reports for next season 2012/13 so no certainty. IMO if it does not come in we will play Spurs Xi games with under 21 'rules' against other like minded clubs.

Think, eligible for Next Gen over age spots would be : Jonathan Miles, Jordan Archer, Kevin Stewart, Jack Barthram, William Ekong, Alex Pritchard, Harry Kane (Gallifuco is within age) but would think that Eknog (who played only a couple of sub roles in Next Gen is the most likely to play in Next Gen with the others playing a 'higher rated' football next season (loans, under 21's or first team) mainly although with the shortage of defenders Stewart and Barthram in particular may play NextGen as well.

Giancarlo Gallifuoco is a prick. He tweeted a few weeks ago, that we only offered him a 3 year deal. And said he could get a 5 year deal at Chelsea, Arsenal or West Ham. He's a first class prick.

Anyone else want to rate the above post, dumb. I don't think i've got enough for it yet.

Think Obika isn't eligible and reckon Button will be on our proper squad next season as no.3. He has played over 100 professional games and is experienced enough for the role.

It's good for most young players to go out on loan, learn about the realities of lower league football and training grounds, and play proper competitive matches etc. Some of our kids have really thrived: eg Caulker playing and starring in League One, Championship and eventually the PL, Kane having an excellent spell at Millwall etc.

However, some of our young players have been marginalised. Tom Carroll at Derby and Ryan Mason at Millwall and elsewhere spring to mind. Both are technically excellent, but physically lightweight. For next season, if loan clubs are not going to play them in a very physical league, I'd be tempted to keep both of them and give them gametime in the Europa League and Carling Cup.

I agree with Spursidol's statement that Mason's best postiion is probably as an ACM or second striker (as he demonstrated during his Academy days). If we're going to play a 4-2-3-1 or some variant of this, then in the Europa, Mason would be a good option for any of the 3 attacking midfield roles. If he appeared in 7 or 8 games before Xmas, and got his confidence and fitness up, then it's arguably a better option than loaning him to a club who are going to be frightened to play him against cloggers.

What happened to Carroll last season is worth considering. His neat, confident, pass and move football meant he slotted in pretty well into our Europa side in the first half of last season, but at Derby Clough seemed unwilling to play him regularly.
