Mabbutt: 'Spurs must sell Modric and move on'

Those comments are totally premature, he hasn't even handed in a transfer request and if he did I would be more inclined to agree with him.

He has said that he is happy at Spurs so we can expect another season from him, thats not an unreasonable position to assume.

Unfortunately this is exactly the sort of attitude that hinders our chances of hitting the next level.

Cant agree with Mabbs there, just cant and to be honest that sort of report isn't helping our cause.

When the bid comes from one of the big teams, and the player wants to go (and invariably he will), after a bit of negotiation, then yes.

Get with the times people, this is how football works today and has done so for a while now.

Not always as black and white as that, two Levy statements, and the emphatic nature of both, should tell you that it isn't as simple as that in this case.

He's entitled to his opinion and he expressed it.

He's not Darth Vader, it's not like Levy is going to change tact just because Mabs has said this.

Quite right, but it doesn't exactly help either. We should be doing all we can to promote the ambition and vision of this Club, even in indirect ways such as these - thats my opinion anyway.

well, if that's the case (and i sure hope it is), there's no problem with mabbs' comment. he said "if luka's heart is set on a move...", and for what it's worth, while i don't necessarily agree, i can't say with certainty he's wrong.

Agree. I have no problem whatsoever with Mabbsy's interview.

Mabbutt was interviewed by phone on SSN on Saturday morning before the Levy statement on the Official site. During the conversation he was basically saying that the player should be let go if he wants to go and the Club can move on.

Levy's statement will have put up the defence barriers at the Club and i have no doubt that if Mabbs was interviewed post Levy comments, he would have placed a different slant on his own opinion.

Ah right, that could well explain it then. Makes sense if that was the sequence of events.

that is really poor.

it's oldschool thinking though, and things have changed, there is alot more at stake these days. one more season to help us get back on track even if he puts in a request, and then a move abroad if he is still looking for a bigger stage. alot could change in a season, he could be happy and we could be in a very strong position.

it's his opinion, he think we can move on without him, considering to the fact we are going to get big money, and we already did this in the part

i could have the same opinion if Modric determind to leave us this summer, even though i wish him to stay.

i never understand posters who make these kind of statements. here we are on a public forumn having our say where journos can see our posts yet a ex player or manager should not speak his mind or have an opinion.

this is not a dig at you personally as i see this kind of comment so often. freedom of speech an all that.
