I think with some top class coaching he will do well. Likely be deployed to counter wing backs which we lack.

But for the reported sum, I was thinking Mahrez.

Mahrez would probably be about double the amount of cash this kid would cost us when you consider wages and fee.

Are the 40/50 mil players you'd prefer still being valued at 40/50 mil?
For me Neres at Ajax or Lozano at PSV are more exciting prospect, would they really cost more? Maybe. But i guess iv seen a little more of Malcom then those two so could well be tainted buy a slightly greater exposure. Who knows, i would personally rather wait to see who becomes available in the summer then move for Malcom now. But thats because i'm not sold on him and even if he came in now he would most likely have very little impact on our season as he's still very raw from what i have seen. Also, Bordeaux are in such a huge mess right now i dont see him going up a gear and becoming a god for them and thusly raising his fee tenfold. Recently Malcom has looked completely disinterested on and off the pitch so i doubt we would have much more competition for his signature ether... although you never know in football. But as i said originally, that doesn't mean i'm against this signing and would obviously be excited to see how he does under Poch.

On the flip side, what if he stays, gets his head down, puts in some big performances and goes to the world cup. He can easily then have a few standout moments in a Brazil shirt vs lesser opposition, to what he'll likely face.

In fairness, I've not seen much of him so can't comment on how good he really is and / or could be, however we moan that we are not decisive, then its suggested we should wait and see. That has cost us in the past.

Also, if we don't sign him now, it will likely be a protracted summer saga, and we all know players adapt to Spurs better if they have a full pre-season with us.

Already posted once about his stats from this season and last but just clarify, here they are below.......

upload_2018-1-19_13-33-56.png

As I mentioned before, he's matched last seasons tallies for goals and assists already this season so he's clearly showing improvement but I would temper that by saying that N'Jie and N'Koudou had very similar stats in the last seasons at their respective clubs before we signed them.

Mahrez is already on 100k a week.

But he was PL player of the year if I remember correctly. So the salary can be justified though I know he might ask for even higher salary for his next move.

Let’s just sign Malcom and move on.

Granted, I have only watched about 10 minutes of video - but he does not look anything like the N'Brothers. His ability to fire a cannon from 30 yards sets him apart, right off the bat, and he seems much more explosive in his movements - much stronger and quicker, imo.

Yep me too. Not now because it's too late, but in the summer that is the ball park figure Leicester wanted. Of course Malcolm is years younger, so who knows his ceiling. I still believe if we had signed Mahrez we'd be sitting above Utd now.

Anyway, I'd never heard of Malcom before this transfer window so I haven't got a clue about him, other than he's pretty raw by all accounts and his goal scoring record isn't great. Then again he doesn't appear to be an out and out CF and he's very young. I think comparisons to Sanchez aren't really appropriate as Sanchez would have been exposed to more high level football at Ajax than Malcom.

Obviously there is always a chance of that, you never know in football. And as i said in an earlier post i could well be culpable of being overly cautious over this signing, if it comes off, because of our recent dealing with French based attackers. I think it more a case of we don't spend this sort of money very often, and hardly ever on attacking players so if things dont go right then i cant see us rectifying things quickly and he maybe wouldn't be my choice as i haven't seen anything from him that makes me truly excited. But again, as mentioned before, this i now way means im against this signing. Im just voicing a few concerns that hopefully prove to be completely unfounded!

If anyone thinks this guy will get time to develop due to only being 20 yrs old let me remind you about how 21 year old Dele Alli was being labelled as ‘overrated’ and needed to be sold on this very forum...

This is exactly the type of player we need to be pushing for hard just like Sanchez in the summer. With Poch's guidance they have the potential to be world beaters in 3-4 years time.

Selfishly I was hoping for Pulisic even though he was (maybe) only slightly hinted at in a few random ITK bits, but this kid seems to have loads of potential, a ton of pace, and a better rep than the unknown N'(Fill in the rest) names of the past.

Hopefully he turns into a Mane type and gives Poch a great weapon to bring off bench or rotate with our front four.

Thomas Lemar was valued at circa £30-40 mil last January, it was 60-70+ come the Summer, and far more than that now. Long gone are the days clubs will allow star players to move on cheaply to Premier league clubs, and while there is without doubt a January premium put on a lot of players, the real superstar prospects will only increase as they continue to perform and the windows pass by.

Pulisic would surely be in the £80/90M category

If this deal happens in this window, surely it's due to the fact we're worried about further inflation in the market come the summer? Seems odd for us to sign someone for this sort of money in January... IF it happens, of course...

New tv deal is due to be announced before the end of the season, no?
