Tottenham are reported to be keeping a close eye on Paris St Germain defender Mamadou Sakho and could make a move as soon as this week.

Sakho had previously been linked with Liverpool, however that apparent interest has come to nothing leaving the way clear for Tottenham to move in.

The arrival of Marquinhos at the French Champions has seen the rumour mill pick up again with Andre Villas-Boas side now reported to be in the frame for the 23 year old French international.

Sakho is a versatile player that can play either centre back or on the left and that versatility is reported to be one of the reason why Tottenham are said to be monitoring the defender.

Sakho has made it clear he will not sit on the bench with PSG and with regular first team football looking more and more remote a move to North London would not come as a huge surprise.

Would absolutely love Sakho. He's such a leader, too. Monster in defense and would fit perfectly next to Vertonghen in my opinion.

Interesting... didn't think we would be in for Sakho because his price would be high and PSG won't want to sell, but apparantly he's only got 11 months left on his contract. This could be who the Journo was talking about when he said we were looking at a French CB. 23 years old with 151 games in Ligue 1, and CL and international experience. Very talented player, would be happy to pick him up and I think he could challenge for a starting spot.

It's funny, I was going to bring this guy up as a possible high-class option in the other thread when Papadopoulos was brought up.

I think considering his contract and the fact PSG have been bringing in some talent at CB, he could be available and I'd love to see him with spurs.

Come on Lloris. Have a word with him ;)

If we were to get Sakho and Chiriches I'd be quite happy.

I don't think Dawson would mind not being first choice. But I wonder what it'd mean for Kaboul if he can't stay fit.

Kaboul's contract is up at the end of the year. If he can't stay fit he'll be gone.

He would be an immense signing. What about both Sakho and Adil Rami? Seems like they're both available and would bed in quickly with Lloris, as they've played with him for Les Bleus.

Sakho's never lived up to his early promises and there's questions about his attitude. Much more was expected of him. Plus, PSG do not need the money (unless one FIFI's FFP rules still apply to richer clubs so PSG need to show "income") and can easily improve on any salary Spurs would offer him. Would be an interesting signing, who could turn into a huge hit. For a decent price he would be worth it. Him or Kurt Zouma. Or Eliaquim Mangala, but knowing how much Porto want for their players, he'll be too costly (I remember many Spurs fans wanted Harry to buy him back in 2011 when he was available €6.5 million...). Matthias Ginter, Laporte, Doria, Tiag Ilori are other options.

PSG don't need cash but he's close to running down his contract and hasn't signed an extension, because with Marquinhos coming in he won't play much. I think there's a deal to be struck here, if we want it.

I was about to make a post saying "why would he leave PSG?" but i looked at an article before pressing post and saw this quote from him earlier in the window:

"‘I want to play for this club my entire life but it has to be clear that I don’t want to sit on the bench. I did not play as much I like last season because of the (former) manager’s choices. Every player wants to play every week and I am no different. I am flattered to be linked with clubs of the history of Liverpool and AC Milan. We will see what happens in the near future.’"

That quote was from before Marquinhos joined, i believe. So i bet he wants out even more now.
